My view, which I was clumsily trying to express…

Yes Sir, that was a memorable WTH were you thinking moment.

This man planned this act for six months. He isn’t demented, mentally ill, deranged, troubled youth or any of the other labels other than what he is: a domestic terrorist who committed a hate crime. People of peace don’t walk around in their churches carrying guns “just in case.”

How does this slimy worthless piece of shit know somebody didn’t try to do something?

“What I was trying to say is that we should regard any occasion as a potential OK Corral, and instead of having a Bible in our lap, we should keep a loaded Glock when we’re in church. Because we all want to live in that world, because it’s better to live in eternal terror than to deal with terrorists if they happen to be white.”

This man knew exactly what he said
This man knew exactly what he meant
This man knew exactly to whom his words were addressed
This man knew that those to whom he spoke would approve
The “mission” was accomplished

The “apology” is about the same as the disclaimer coming with a kid’s dollhouse the parents assembled

No I’m not and contrary to you I call out stupid when I see it, regardless of the political affiliation.

"I deeply regret using those words and giving that impression,” he said in a statement, according to The Post and Courier. “My view, which I was clumsily trying to express, was that it is painfully regrettable that someone was not able to intervene in this demented killer’s life to stop him right up to the moment he squeezed the trigger.”

Two points:

  1. I think the representative sounds sincere in his apology. He didn’t use the “I misspoke” crap. He states he does deeply regret the impression that came with his original statement – which was a correct impression if you read the exact words. However, I do believe he means it when he says he wasn’t in any way blaming the victims for what happened.

  2. Dylann Roof does not appear “demented” in the least. His beliefs are warped as hell, but Roof knows exactly what he did and why he did it. There doesn’t appear to be any mental illness at play here. The Colorado theater shooter is demented – Roof, no. This is my observation, anyway. Obviously, Roof will very likely be examined by psychiatric professionals.

Interestingly, he didn’t apologize for his remarks to the white reporter, telling him “they” were dying out and he should be reproducing to prevent that.

So he apologized for one asinine statement, but he’s not stepping away from his very thinly veiled xenophobia.

“Please let me be clear: The responsibility for the despicable murders
in Charleston rests solely on the murderer," he continued. “If any of my
remarks suggested differently, I am deeply sorry.”

And not, in any way, shape, or form, on those who might have encouraged the formation of his world view at all at any time over the past 21 years of his life. No siree. Not us.

Fuck this guy.

He was going for the 'good guy with a gun" talking point and fucked it up.

Sir, you seem blissfully ignorant of a whole spate of unarmed Black folks murdered by police recently.

And your advice is for Black people to carry guns everywhere - including church?

No one has an answer if you ask what happens if the deranged gunman sizes up his prey and quickly takes out the 1-2-3 most probable people in a group that might have a gun. And handguns are notoriously inaccurate, even at close range. The person knowing he’s about ready to start shooting is going to be far more deadly than the guy that is surprised into reacting with counter force. And unless someone in that church was damned fast and accurate on the draw descriptions of the carnage tell me 3-4 people were going down even if a parishioner was armed. Having everyone going to church with a pistol on their hip or in their purse is a damned poor way to live, especially since the life saving potential is minimal and not foolproof. It’s just as likely a gun battle in a church full of people will get multiple people in various lines of fire killed as the perp unloading his weapon and finally getting tackled.

If he really wants to apologize, he will attend EACH AND EVERY one of the funerals and ask each and every family for forgiveness.

Bet he’d be the first one to defend a cop that shot a black man/woman standing there who turned out to be armed…because the cop felt threatened. Wonder what his feelings about Tamir Rice and the poor guy at WalMart are?
