Discussion: Ryan Says McCarthy Is 'Right Person' To Succeed Him As House Speaker

Yeah, he has been strokin trump for a while now.
Even better than ryan would allow himself to do.
Fortunately, he won’t get the chance after the next election and the new sign posted on the front door will be:

“It’s like Eisenhower resigning right before D-Day,” said Tom Davis, a former Republican congressman

Dear Mr. Davis
I enjoin you to take another look at your 6th grade history textbook. Eisenhower served his country with distinction. He fully supported the Marshall plan. The tax rate was 87% percent. He also warned us against the overweening power of the military-industrial complex, telling the nation it should keep their power in check.
On D-Day, thousands of men lost their lives both due to enemy fire and mismanaged landing operations - this will happen to no one because Ryan resigns. History is a useful thing to know. Please consider reading as a pastime.
Sincerely,
R. Hortense Corvidae

Um, more like Hitler shooting himself in the head to avoid capture by the Allies.

I think there are enough rabid wingnuts among the House R’s frothing for a chance at leadership to oust Ryan and shove aside McCarthy in favor of Scalise by this summer, thus precipitating a ghastly spectacle in the House right before elections. Sure, it would be sensible for the FC to pull together with the establishment against their common foe (us Dems), but when has the Freedom Caucus ever been sensible? Especially when faced with non-insane Republicans that need smashing?

But if Ryan does manage to hang on to gavel, then McCarthy and Scalise will spend the next six months shivving each other, which will also be horrible for the R’s. Though entertaining for me. Either way, they’re just plain screwed. Thanks Ryan.

Ryan must be trying to make himself look good because McCarthy will surely fuck it up even more than he did.
