“Absolutely,” he told NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “The last thing I would do is tell anybody to do something that’s contrary to their conscience. Of course I wouldn’t do that.”
“So are you still voting for the party nominee?”
Its still a relevant question
I picture a rat, following along behind the Pied Piper, hopelessly caught in the mystic allure, but frantically waving its little paws at the other rats and crying, “Go back! Go back!”
Still can’t mention his name.
I get that this a very strange situation. [Trump is] a very unique nominee. But I feel as a responsibility institutionally as the speaker of the House that I should not be leading some chasm in the middle of our party. Because you know what I know that’ll do? That’ll definitely knock us out of the White House.
Geez, Eddie. What a pussy.
OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY…
Are they fucked or what? How many nanaoseconds after they oust him do you think it will take Trump to mount an independent campaign if for nothing else spite.
If he remains people will stay home .
It’s a lose - lose Chickens meet roost.
If they stick with him, they lose.
If they throw him out, they lose.
If he starts a third party, they lose.
If he doesn’t start a third party, they lose.
It really doesn’t matter WHAT they do. Man I thought they were fucked in 2008.
This is looking more and more like the election of 1912 when Wilson, T. R., Taft and Debs went at it.
This assumes that Republican politicians are actually equipped with a conscience.
You’re in an airliner. It encounters operational problems. The cockpit is locked and the pilot and co-pilot have slumped forward in their seats, inexplicably unconscious. Visiting them at the time is a noted politician. Now, that person needs to listen to the seasoned advice and instructions of people on the ground that know how to operate the plane, have the intellect to absorb it quickly and somehow translate that into on-hands control of the plane. Humility in the face of the emergency, patience, respect, a calm demeanor, the introspection to admit you don’t know what you’re doing in every situation and act accordingly are required.
Do you want Clinton or Trump in that cockpit?
I just have a feeling we’ll be hearing a good bit of this from the top floor of the GOP for the duration. The voters spoke, Supreme Court, signing laws, Hillary bad, vote however you feel like. No praise of Trump at all. If the GOPers and Trump were a married couple they’d be sleeping in separate rooms and barely talking except when necessary. Still together for the sake of the kids, but really not a couple in any meaningful way.
If the GOPers and Trump were a married couple they’d be sleeping with other people.
FIFY
Comes from the party of: Either you are with us or you are with terrorists.
Neither. I’m flying, Clinton can have the parachute and the Man With The Best Words just jumped out with my backpack.
You know the sad part of this is? If trump wasn’t tanking in the polls for the things he’s been saying they wouldn’t have issues with him at all
Presumptive advice about a presumptive nominee - perfect for the GOP’s presumptive intellectual.
So who you think they are going dump trump for? Jeb, mittens, walker
Doesn’t matter, Ryan. You’ve still got the birther stink on you forever.
That’s expecting too much empathy for other people.
Still together for the tax benefits, is more likely.
Is there precedent for a Speaker stepping down without giving up their Congressional seat?
