I just hope he sticks to the Hastert rule - it’s a total winner, and was invented by the truest Republican ever!

Remember shutdown time, GOTP? “Our goal is to make sure he’s a one term president”?? Any of this ringing any bells??

“The Democrats were not looking to advance an issue," he said at the time. “They were looking to sabotage the appropriations process. … They are trying to stop the appropriations process in its tracks.”

Where in the world would they have learned such devious tactics?

Paul Ryan should just drop everything and go Galt. There must be a Randian paradise that he can join.

Remember when the Republicans were complaining that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid had ruined our very system of government by refusing to accept Republican amendments to legislation?

“Ryan’s reckoning with reality.”

Please.

Archaeologists will be digging us up before Ryan – or any GOP leader – even begins to reckon with “reality”.

Any amendments will be approved through the House Rules committee prior to a vote hitting the floor, an attempt to stop controversial amendments from sinking the must-pass spending bills.

Any member can still submit amendments, but the Rules Committee will have the final say.

OT (well, sorta), but this is a bit contradictory, confusing at best. I understand that amendments will be required to be submitted through the Rules Committee for approval – or disapproval, as the case may be. Perhaps the word “must” should replace “will” in the first highlighted sentence. Thankss.

Now, On Topic: Even though the Republicans fully deserved this, I think it speaks volumes about how damned dysfunctional our legislative system is that the minority party (either party!) feels they must propose “poison pill” legislation so often just so they can call attention to what they feel needs due process and has been short-shrifted too many times.

In May, the House of Representatives fought bitterly over an amendment that banned government contractors from discriminating against LGBT employees.

Game Over.

When the rest of the people in the room are really, really stupid, the guy who speaks in complete sentences and can cite the Koch brother’s support for him in Cleveland, comes out looking like the smart one.
