“So that is why we will be working with the sergeant-at-arms to ensure the enforcement of appropriate business attire is updated,” [Speaker Ryan] said.

Here’s the appropriate attire for some peoples’ line of business:

“Decorum is important, especially for this institution.”

Which is why we allow some of out members to sneak over to the WH to view secret dox, fail to reprimand our Party members for ethical violations, and let Louis Gohmert in the doors.

Dress code? That’s the lowest of low hanging fruit.

Paul Ryan;

You can only wear white after New Years, and only up to New Years.

Why not burqas for ladies and dresses for men. How f’d up can the HoR get? Some of the Reps from the boonies should leave their Bibles at the door and get with the 21st Century and science.

I don’t recall anything in the Constitution about dress code for Representatives duly elected by their constituents.

US Constitution, Article I, Section 5, paragraph 2
Each House may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a member.

The Constitution is a remarkably flexible document in some areas.

What happens if a NEWLY ELECTED congressperson refuses to comply?

Can they deny that rep’s constituents representation, based on a dress code?

We need a virtual congress, this monkey-suited noose-wearing gaggle all look like refugees from the Madmen era, the whole system is as obsolete as the clothes they wear.

Their idea of class will be a big joke for future posterity.

Someone, tell me, just what is a tie for?

A tie is a sign of power, the longer it is, the redder it is the better. Extra points if it’s held together with Scotch tape.

This is a terrible idea. Too many women in sleeveless tops may cause the Vice President to leap from his chair and act inappropriately.

Egad! The horror.

Yeah, fix the damn dress code, but don’t work on any legislation, let alone pass any.

If a person can’t even comply with a dress code, they are unprofessional and should not be in office, yes. Act like an adult.

Colbert and Maher wear suits for their shows, Jon Stewart did too. It’s called looking professional. I really don’t see what the problem is with having a dress code, and of course updating it on occasion.

That’s Martha McSally, my current Congresscritter who never seems to answer emails I send.

and silent as to proper attire…
