Discussion for article #231146
Anyone else wonder what magazines Scalia and Roberts read?
This is news? Really???
It is related to all of the recent news about the editorial shake-up at TNR (and the fact that Justice Ginsburg had been a strong supporter of the publication.)
Note to Chris Hughes----
This is what you get when you shit in your own mess kit.
People are starting to see that elitist rag for what it’s been – about 50 years too late.
Mr. Price, my erstwhile Current Events prof, is rolling and heaving in his grave. RIP, dear, RIP.
Another money-hungry capitalist, spouting MBA bullish!t and knowing little or nothing about journalism, devours and destroys a century-old bastion of progressive thought. The oligarchy dooms the rest of us; serfdom is just around the corner.
Thanks, Mike, I was feeling a little glum until I read your comment. Have you ever tried your hand at writing greeting cards? ; )
I’m surprised she stuck with it this long. The circulation has been more than halved in the last 20 years.
Why are we all worried about a magazine that stopped being “liberal” 40 years and never was all that “liberal” to begin with? I can remember 50 years ago when TNR denounced we anti-war folks during Vietnam, the same way they tub-thumped for Reagan’s Central American wars in the 80s and Little Georgie’s invasion of Poland, er, I mean Iraq, 12 years ago. Both Foer and Wieseltier are long-time Israel-uber-Alles Likudnik Zionists who had no problem working for a neocon scum like Martin Peretz.
They all remind me of Phil Ochs’ definition of a “liberal” 50 years ago: “Ten degrees to the left of center in good times, ten degrees to the right of center if it affects them personally.”
Good riddance. Let’s see what New York intellectual bullshit we can get rid of next.
I’m sorry to hear this. Not that she cancelled, but that she continued to be a subscriber after decades of racism and warmongering.
