Imagine that–racism AND sexism, twofer one.
“…were to cast Clinton as a crook or liar and to promote Trump as a man “telling it like it is”…”
And it worked.
People reading these things on FB or miscellaneous comments sections assume they’re by real person persons and the bandwagon effect kicks in.
Why do you lay these troubling thoughts on already troubled minds? How are patriotic Americans supposed to feel about being a patsy for the Russkies?
Well, Mitch McConnell indicated to Obama that discussing the Russian activity would be turned into a political issue; Turts McNomorals expressing that he was skeptical of the intelligence or some such (this being a leak; his PR team refuses to discuss what was said in the private meeting).
But don’t take my word for it. (No, seriously, please, read this Washington Post Article instead. I’m certainly in a post-rush-hour-commute funk/haze.)
@nemo:Well, the Guardian is a 2-for-1 for Putin’s “anti-[West/NATO/democracy/etc.]/revenge” campaign, what with Brexit and all.
Gosh, I wonder if there were a few Russian troll farms fanning anti-Hillary flames on the left too.
It’s increasingly obvious that Russian trolls are indisguishable from right wing trolls. Who knows, maybe all of them are Russian agents.
What’s most surprising is how many supporters of the Donald and GOP members of Congress seem to see no problem cosying up to both neo-Nazis and the Russians. (Insert Santayana quote here.)
That works out to about $1,200 today - 100,000 rubles is about $1,700. A month? I’ll pass thanks.
Now as a part-time gig…
I actually subscribed to the Guardian for a while, and then I gave up on them. Their comments section was useless.
The stupidity and illegitimacy of these commenting trolls was always fairly well obvious to us here, which is why so many were flagged and banned. They just kept putting out lie upon lie with no reasonable arguments whatsoever - kinda like the Republican Party! Who would ever have thought they were Russian trolls and not great American patriots like Jill Stein and Glenn Greenwald?!
Anyway, it was like a paraphrase of a famous line from “Apocalypse Now”: “The bullshit piled up so fast you needed wings to stay above it.”
Clinton got a million from Wall Street while t-rump got billions from Russia. So who is the crook?
We are entering Bizarro World with this. One the one hand, it’s kind of reassuring to think that maybe all those insane, disgusting articles, comments and tweets were not coming from Americans but fabricated by foreign interlopers.
On the other hand, too many Americans fell for it.
If you got paid for your posts, you’d be able to buy Dump’s Caribbean property at his firesale price.
OK, back to my original thought:
If they were real BLM activists, they’d have been chanting “Fuck this Country, Fuck this flag” because it scans better in iambs (dah dah DAH dah - dah dah dah) than the one the trolls would have us believe (dah dah dah - dah dah dah dah). Russians got no sense of rhythm.
Incredible.
Straight-laced, Marine-tough, all-American conservatives, dancing to the lies of our mortal enemy.
Unbelievable.
What makes you think it’s Russian trolls. There’s more than enough ignorant low lifes here to fill fux’s comment board.
LW activist groups in this country have always been singled out for special scrutiny and often simple out right harassment by the local, state and federal law enforcement agencies that take it upon themselve to protect us from ourselves.
The red scare of the 50’s. The anti-war movement from the 70’s, and off shoots that occured in the second half of that decade. (The Symbionese Liberation Army got by though.) It all started again (roughly) in this decade w/ the Occupy movement: infiltrated, co-opted and put down. Often violently.
Knowing this, if I was some kid in a local antifa cell, I would be extremely paranoid. (In addition to just being sort of generally confused and prone to violence, that is.) If I was a brown-skinned kid and thinking of joining BLM or a related activist group, I’d make sure to have a good lawyer lined up and they carried a writ of habeas corpus at all times.
Whereas, if you start up a local militia group, and grab your ARs to ‘open-carry’ march downtown and yell about the illegals (a horrible term btw), the risk you run is having too many marchers from the local LE community joining you.
I was paid 50 kopeks for this post.
You mean like the DT Administration, his family, his friends, his business partners, associates and the GOP ? Not to mention his enemy’s.
Dang! I could have had my prime dues paid!
The rooskies are doing it while DT is being investigated for the rooskies doing it.
Am I missing something here ?
I noticed that Business Insider eliminated their comments sections immediately after the election.
They have never acknowledged that any infiltration took place.
I have sent them three e-mails telling them of my concerns since the election and suggesting that they ask the FBI to perform a forensic analysis of their comments sections prior to the elections and they have completely ignored me. Never even acknowledged receipt.
My only hope is that the FBI is tuned in to this nonsense and are researching it. None of this has made it into the national press, however. WHich surprises me. The focus on FB and Twitter is short sighted. This was MUCH broader than that.
