The disdain for our press, and the fact that they are doing this so blatantly and openly just shows that they know they can get away with anything.
“What’s the problem? Trump didn’t have him shot while he was taking a walk outside the White House.”
And really, Donny, if you want to change the narrative, meeting with the Russians and Henry Kissinger is not the way to do it.
Boy it feels good to have the Russians sneering at us.
The Comey firing is just one more in a long list of Trump distractions from even more stunning Russia-Trump espionage news. That news is the grand jury issuing of subpoenas for Flynn associates, news of possible pending criminal indictments, and Senate investigators asking Treasury for financial info that could connect Trump associates to Russia.
Lavrov laughed. “Well, you seem to be all grown-ups,” he said, speaking through a translator. “I never thought that I would have to answer such questions, particularly being in the U.S. taking into account your highly developed democratic political system.”
Asked if Trump gave Lavrov any private assurances that he does not believe Russia meddled in the 2016 election, Lavrov cited Trump’s public statements on the matter.
“President Trump publicly stated on a number of occasions what he thinks about accusations and allegations regarding Russia’s meddling into your domestic affairs,” Lavrov said. “That is why there is no need for him to tell us anything or to give assurance behind closed doors.”
Has anyone informed Mitch,McCain or Graham about this?
What? Russians, Nixon and Watergate? Everything to see here in two meetings.
Well they do have that right.
Exactly, and their sneers are unfortunately well-placed right now.

FIFY
that disdain stems from the majority party having no problem with how government is currently working.
Lavrov comments were a spit in the face of the United States.
I can’t recall any foreign “diplomat” making a similar statement in the People’s House - the White House.
Make America Great Again?
I ask again. What is the difference between the clown Trump and Tillerson? Anyone? A little bit more intelligence?
We are at war, whether people want to admit it or not.
And we better start taking it seriously.
Here’s a saving grace: as of today, Trump loses to the generic Democrat in a rematch. Now the ‘flip’ is which Democrat snatches him bald, but as of today…
How does Washington like having its face rubbed in poo?
How does America like being peed on?
“Was he fired? You are kidding!” Lavrov responded.
He continued, “Why didn’t they just use the polonium we supplied?”
I feel like a landlord who finds a meth lab in a tenant’s unit.
I want Trump out by nightfall.
Exactly my point. Glenn Thrush of the NYT tweeted at 6:00 a.m. this morning that:
“No doubt now GOP will ultimately have to accept independent investigation - even folks who thought Russia was overplayed can’t ignore Comey.”
They just don’t get it. This is a feature of the modern GOP, not a bug! They LIKE what Trump is doing, they don’t care about Russian collusion or interference, they got their SCOTUS nominee, they no longer have a black guy that can veto their tax cuts for billionaires, and Trump has been down the line the worst example of crony capitalist GOP governance we’ve ever seen.
And through all of this, his rabid cult followers love him. I know it was just a movie, but this is too on the nose:
Gracchus:
Fear and wonder, a powerful combination.
Falco:
You really think people are going to be seduced by that?
Gracchus:
I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they’ll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they’ll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it’s the sand of the coliseum. He’ll bring them death - and they will love him for it.
Russia’s foreign minister laughs off questions about Comey’s termination
I’m with Lavrov and Putin on this - why the fuck is our media asking Russian political agents about our internal politics? What possible answer could they give that would be meaningful, insightful, or illuminating in any way? How about “what do you know about President Trump’s business ties in Russia?” instead?
