Discussion: Russian-American Lobbyist In Trump Jr. Meeting: Lawyer Brought Documents

This is perfect. They first get Trump elected, then neuter him. Amazing.

But Donnie Derp Jr. said there was NO information at the meeting?

Could he have been wrong?

If I wanted to communicate “look at the contents of this folder, but not here and now,” that’s about what I would have said.

The meeting has heightened questions about whether definitively proven that Trump’s campaign coordinated with the Russian government during the election

Fixed that for you, AP. Seriously - a member of Trump’s campaign voluntarily released e-mails in which he enthusiastically accepts an offer of help from “Russia and its government.” Grow a fucking spine and call this what it is - clear collusion with Russia to win the election.

Trump Jr. asked the attorney if she had all the evidence to back up her claims, including whether she could demonstrate the flow of the money. But Veselnitskaya said the Trump campaign would need to research it more. After that, Trump Jr. lost interest, according to Akhmetshin.

This part is just too perfect. Of course they lost interest when informed there was more work to do! 10/10 wow amazeballs

saying that he did not receive the information he was promised.

Still, the possibilities were so exciting it inspired his daddy to announce two days before the meeting, “I am going to give a major speech on probably Monday of next week, and we’re going to be discussing all of the things that have taken place with the Clintons. I think you’re going to find it very informative and very, very interesting. I wonder if the press will want to attend. Who knows?”

At this point, though, it’s clear that we can’t trust anything anyone says here, right? I mean, Trump’s story has changed a half-dozen times now. It’s entirely likely that everyone was given the main talking points: The meeting was set up with the lure of oppo research, the oppo research was stupid, and then they just talked about the Russian adoption thing, and then everyone left disappointed because no one got what they wanted. As long as everyone just sticks to their story, they should be fine.

But obviously, there is so much more. As others have noted: no one in the Trump camp batted an eyelash when the emails mentioned Russian interference. And it’s very unlikely that these high-ranking Trump campaign officials are going to meet with some random person at the request of an acquaintance. Can you imagine? I happen to know a very, very wealthy business person. If I wrote this person’s eldest child and said “Hey, the Chinese have been doing some industrial espionage on your rival business and got information that would seriously cripple them if exposed-- can I have one of these Chinese lawyers meet up with you to talk about it?,” I would be told in no uncertain terms how sketchy that was. And even if there was interest in meeting up, there would be a lot of vetting. You don’t just invite people into your office to talk about clandestine things without knowing quite a bit about whom you’re talking to.

Nah. There is a lot more to be said here. It might take awhile, but at some point someone is going to put forward clear evidence of direct illegal activities in the Trump campaign.
