This Kremlin is far more sinister than its mercurial, then sclerotic Soviet and post-Soviet predecessors. Another warning: Americans ought to stay as far away from Russia as possible. Stanford has suspended its undergrad and grad programs there. A sad development, because fundamentally Russia is a rich vein for history and culture students, but a very wise decision at this point, in my opinion.

It will be interesting to watch Trumpâs reactions to any retaliatory sanctions from Russia. The last actions (in response to the siezing of 2 facilities the Russians were using (owned?) in the U.S., was severing the employment of hundreds (?) of Russians working in the US Embassy in Russia led to Trump joking about the action being great for the US because it cut the cost of running the Embassy. A breezy punchline - Trumpian joke.
We know that if this was from NKor or Iran he would escalate in bellicose tweets.
