Discussion: Russia: UK Was 'Directly Involved' In Syria Chemical Attack

Oh, Vlad, you’re so silly.

I look forward to a time when we can make Russia pay for their actions. The price needs to be extremely heavy - this is a literal criminal country that endangers the world.

Oh Jesus H. Christ. I’m really trying to stay objective with today’s Russia, but they’re making it so hard. For those TPM’ers who lived through the darkest periods of the cold war (by the time I was old enough to register global events, Glasnost and Perestroika were already well advanced) was this level of sheer mendacity common even then? The old Soviet Union was notably authoritarian and opaque, of course, and engaged in their own calculating version of realpolitik, but announcing to the world that “up is down” and “black is white” seems pretty goofy even for the Kruschev or Andropov-era USSR.

This is like a mobster – caught holding an empty can of gasoline outsider a flaming convenience store – telling the police that it must have been the old lady next door who did it, smiling smugly the whole time. Assholes.

The Brits?

More likley those dastardly Norwegians dropped a load of spoiled Lutefisk on Syria.

Imagine the horror :scream:

Definitely in that territory though. Sheesh, look at how Trump is handling things right now.

Yep, referring both to Russia and to Trump.

I’ve always suspected as much …

The Olympic Committee needs to start checking the UK’s athletes closer —

Read Timothy Synder’s new book, The Road to Unfreedom" to get the low-down on what this Russia has become. It’s a horror story that we Americans have no idea about, and the endgame to what Putin has created seems to have to include chaos and conflagration if we do not accede to coming Russian actions and demands. Their new ideology includes having no bounds on what they could do, none.

Everyone should read “Road to Unfreedom” to see the type of Russia we are up against.

Russia is no longer a Country.

It is a Criminal Organization much like the old Barbary Coast Pirates of the 1800’s.

They demand “Tribute” to leave your Multi-National company alone, and want a “cut” of any “action” anywhere to leave your people un-killed. Anyone who crosses their Mob-Boss Putin ends up dead or just disappears.

In the early 1990’s the International Community had one small window to help the former Soviet Union transition into a functioning Democracy/Republic, but instead, chose to exploit and ransack Russia for their short-term gain. This destroyed the fledgling institutions and allowed a minor Soviet-era KGB Colonel, along with his Russian Mob friends to take over the entire Government via blackmail, corruption, and murder.
Now, 25 years later, he is one of the wealthiest people in the world (estimated somewhere north of $300 Billion and climbing) and wields immense power and influence, has iron-fisted control of a Nuclear-weapon owning Military Super Power and controls countless Nation-states and their rulers via intimidation and blackmail (including the current President of the United States.)

Oh boy, here we go. Just read on CNN that Mattis is trying to slow down our involvement in Syria and wants more proof of Assad’s responsibility for the chemical attack. Are we approaching a place where the President will side with Russia over the UK?

This is absurd.

Donnie? Is that you in a russian general’s uniform (I’m sure you’ve always wanted to play one of your generals).

Why?

We see it every day from our President’s words and deeds.

Uhh… yeah. Because the UK does that kind of thing and Russia would never condone killing people with poison.

Why is it that the authoritarian types (and I’m talking to you, Republicans) are consistently so dim that they think the rest of the world would even consider believing this sort of farcical explanation for their bad behavior?

Not sure you can spoil lutefisk. That’s pretty much its default condition.

Well lets just direct it at folks like Vlad that actually do this and not to the people of the country that have to suffer directly from Vlad’s shit.

Is there a trump university in Russia somewhere?
Or did trump take the 6 month quicky course over there to learn the KGB way of defying actual truth.
The similarities between putin and trump are to obvious to ignore anymore.

I can think of only one person stupid enough to believe that. Expect a tweet soon.
