Discussion: Russia Facebook Ads Promoted Rallies, Marches And Events

Setting up diametrically opposed protests at the same time shows that part of the intent was just to sow general disorder. (Although of course we’ve seen before that general disorder plays very well into the myth that only a strongman can rescue the populace.)

It’s just like Pearl Harbor, but in slower motion…

Unbelievable. And yet Faux Snooze continues to insist it was all a figment of our imaginations. Please make it stop. More indictments and guilty pleas, please, Director Mueller.

The biggest hurdle as this rolls onward, will be convincing a portion of this population they have been made fools of.

For a portion of Texas, I am sure there will some doubling down first before owning up to it.

It would be interesting if Fox was asked to meet as the Social Media groups were. Fox is obviously, at a minimum used to disseminate FUD, is that not the same as say Facebook being used to do the same thing?

Nov. 4 – celebrated in Russia as Unity Day – is being promoted by Russian trolls for both pro- and anti-Trump demonstrations across the US. Clever, eh?

Russia is running both – the Trumpians and the “Resistance.” It’s classic “divide and conquer.”

Why the far right believes a US civil war will start on Saturday
Since late September, ‘alt-right’ members have advanced the idea that anti-fascist groups will begin a violent insurrection on 4 November. But no antifa groups are planning to protest – so what gives?

Brilliant and disturbing. Now that I know this, am I going to be less likely to exercise my freedom of assembly, fearing that I might unwittingly be acting at the behest of Russian instigators? I’m inclined to view this as a bid to sow a level of civic distrust that makes collective action difficult, part of a long game to make democracy fail.

Check out refusefascism.org, which has a history of claiming both that Trump did not collude with Putin, and that Trump must be resisted as fascist. Strange pairing of beliefs if they’re not Russian, yes?

“THE TRUMP/PENCE REGIME MUST GO! Protests Begin Nov 4”, so they say.

I am not sure this is something all that extraordinary, the only novelty is the use of facebook and twiter. Since the cold war this was standard operating procedure for both the KGB and the CIA. It happened in many countries and in the worse cases resulted in massacres and coups d’etat. It’s something that cannot be bragged about but there are a lot of people that are sure that the US did it to Russia after the communists downfall. You can be sure that Vladimir Putin does know about american activities in the period and probably still mad about it,

If and when the good guys ever regain control of the US, I’d like to teach the Soviets a lesson. Computer glitches and viruses at their stock exchange and their major banks. Wipe out a few trillion rubles here and there. Alter a few passwords to their power grids and/or cell towers in some of the more economically important cities. Teach these fuckers a lesson … but, of course, deny we had anything to do with it.

I believe Macedonia is some kind of haven for false news stories, not necessarily with some higher purpose, but just as clickbait for advertising revenue. That could increase the impact of any Russian attacks.
Apparently they just saw what generated clicks and then used that as a basis…

I am sure that somebody in the Russian troll farms is coordinating the strategy to achieve maximum disruption and chaos, but to a certain extent this looks like a bunch of Russian bros given free rein to their ‘wouldn’t it be funny if…’ impulses.

Do I look like Alex Jones when I say I think FAUX News and Rupert Murdoch are employees of Mr. Putin?

I mean, does this tin-foil-hat make me look paranoid?

OK…a question to ponder relating to these “events” stimulated by troll farm ads: Were there GOP/Trump operatives at those events operating under any specific directions that would help stir the pot in terms of confrontations?

And how, for example, was Idaho chosen as a location for an event? It’s probably one of the reddest of the red states in terms of politics. Why did they even NEED such a demonstration there?

Who actually wrote the copy for ads and selected the “names” of the groups?
Who decided who would be targeted to see them initially?

How much did Trump and the GOP simply benefit from the effort and how much were they actively involved in the crafting and actual implementation of these events?

See my note below and ask yourself, was this JUST Russian trollers carrying this out…or did they have Trump hands-on assistance at any point in the process?

No better way to keep the chaos going than to gin up a so-called grassroots effort to demand Tramp’s removal from office while feeding the other side’s witch hunt conspiracy. They’re playing the US and but good.

Please hurry, Mr. Mueller.

Looking at the picture with both groups facing off across the road from each other, I was fantasizing about someone walking down the middle or the road with a “THIS PROTEST BROUGHT TO YOU BY RUSSIA!” sign.

Ms. Sneed, I’d suggest you read David Brin’s book “Existence”, published all the way back in 2013, and his discussion about planted memes as social viruses. It would seem the Russians already have the concept down.

Who is Richard Spencer married to? A Russian propagandist with close ties to Putin.

They are all KOMPROMAT, from Trump, to Gorka, on down to Milo.

If they were not KOMPROMAT, the Russians wouldn’t let them near their game. It’s the price of admission. They own the Trump revolution, they have tried to get the liberal opposition to resort to violence, so they can quash it and look like the protectors of the State.
It is clear and present, and they are winning,
