Discussion for article #236438
I am so glad he running again!
“The deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) has been in the crosshairs of Warren and the liberal Democratic wing of the Democratic Party.”
TPP is a suppository sort of agreement that we were never supposed to see until it was implemented.
Most social scientists believe that social revolutions take place when things are getting better. See below:
"What are the essential conditions required for a revolution to take place?
Surprisingly, revolutions don’t typically happen when things are bad and getting worse. The classic phrase is “the miserable don’t rebel.” Revolution usually happens when things are getting better but not as fast as people expect, or when things were getting better and have now taken a dive. The key is the gap between reality and expectations."
The above was from a Q & A session with a current social activist.
A low point of Barack Obama’s administration was the aftermath of the 2010 Congressional and Gubernatorial/State elections. FOX was insane, the TeaBagging Congress (with only ONE chamber) was nevertheless halting government. The Gerrymandering was intense. Mr. Obama was fighting for a Second Term. The media/message-machine/talking-heads on the Right were non-stop.
THIS cycle, however, may be different. Mr. Feingold’s candidacy and stances may be an indicator.
The truly downtrodden do not revolt. People who DO revolt (like the black U.S. returning WWII soldiers who had been exposed to things other than Jim Crow America) say to themselves:
I DESERVE more.
We’ll see.
As Obama hones his legacy Warren has increasingly become the voice of the Democratic party. I wonder if Hillary is noticing?
If only the Reagan Devolution had not removed import tariffs and all other protections to U.S. manufacturing.
But what we really want answered is whether Sen Warren was being sexist calling Sen Feingold by his first name!!! (Squirrel!..)
No. Only men can be sexist. Only whites can be racist.
DFA out today with a mass mailing claiming that TPP now includes a GOP added provision that would cut $700 million from Medicare.
Here’s the text and a link to a petition if you are so inclined…or better yet, contact your Senator(s) yourself.
I didn’t think it was possible – but the Trans-Pacific Partnership just got a lot worse.
There’s a big – brand new – attack on Medicare that’s just been added in the Senate to the Fast Track bill for the TPP. The bill would cut a whopping $700 million from Medicare, hurting seniors who need access to health care.
That’s right, Republicans insisted on cutting Medicare spending to pay for a Trade Adjustment Assistance program that Democrats got added to the bill in order to support workers who lost their jobs due to trade deals like the TPP.
This is ridiculous. If Senators are concerned about the impact of the TPP on jobs, then they should reject the the Fast Track bill that makes it possible – especially if the plan to pay for it comes out of the pockets of seniors who rely on Medicare to survive.
The Senate is about to vote again on Fast Track for the TPP. President Obama is pressuring Democrats to vote for it, even with this cut to Medicare. We have just a few days to stop them.

Man, if only it were possible for mere citizens to look at this.
Oh, wait, can’t.
Thanks for fixing that.
Isn’t a suppository something that gets shoved up your ass? Oh. Never mind.
If that got in there, what else?
This is ugly.
The FOX demographic.
These folks had no problem with Stopping the ACA. In fact, BaggerPols who touted this have always been careful to stress that stopping the ACA meant no cuts to Medicare–and those ReThugBaggerPols who talked about “voucherizing Medicare” were always careful to say,:
“Look! This only applies to people coming after you. YOU’LL BE OKAY!!! REPEAT!!! YOU’LL BE OKAY!!!”
Maybe those folks will get up and alarmed.
And sign whatever petition necessary…bum-rush every “Town Hall” necessary…
Believe me, they DO vote.
Russ Feingold is against a trade agreement he hasn’t even read? Really? why would anyone support a candidate that makes decisions based on press reports?
He has sealed his fate and will not win his old seat back… too bad because the democrats really needed to win more Senate seats BUT they are shooting themselves in the foot by once again campaigning against the only democrat to win a national election in 19 years.
I just looked at the link, but it doesn’t answer the questions: Has this $700B cut to Medicare amendment been voted on? Has leadership taken a position on it? This doesn’t seem like the type of thing you would want if you seek approval – this is a poison pill.
Has anyone seen mention of this anywhere else? I checked on a few sites, but saw nothing, which seems unlikely if this bombshell were true
.
This sounds like a repeat of the Republican lie that, “Obamacare steals $700 billion from Medicare.”
I’m sure she is, trying to work the too radical for the American people angle and finding a way to paint her as a youtube sensation and nothing more. Good luck. Warren is two steps ahead of her and trying to stay there.
BTW, Hillary is a bit preoccupied with her two useless grifter brothers these days. Waiting for Fox & Friends to take notice. Billy Clinton is just a beer belly butt scratching yahoo compared to these two flakes.
You’ve just outed yourself, Darcy.
Maybe his former colleagues told him about it.
Maybe some labor unions have come to him for help because Obama shut them out of the negotiations.
Environmentalists, also shut out, may have sought his help.
Doctors, worrying that their patients may no longer be able to afford medicine, should have alerted him.
Just check out the history of those two. Quite impressive.
