Ah Effingham County where there are little over 32,000 residents, whereas I in a suburb of St. Louis has just as many.
“We wanted to … get across that our Second Amendment rights are slowly being stripped away,” Kibler said.
Has any one of these people ever detailed exactly what rights have been taken from them, where, and when?
When the black Mooslim guy was president they all had their panties in a bunch, and he did essentially squat, even slightly broadening the ability to carry guns on some Federal lands IIRC. So what the hell are they carrying on about? It’s not as if they’re living in Massachusetts where the scary gay lady AG has actually taken some steps to restrict the manufacture of semi-auto rifles.
And they wonder where the guns that go into Chicago come from…
I live in Oak Park, Ill (1 mile X 2 mile sq. area) with 58,000 residence.
So the gun nuts need a safe space? How ironic.
Actually that “scary gay lady” is turning out to be one heck of a good state AG.Give em hell Maura.
I absolutely agree, even though I don’t live in my native state these days.
Okay, I’m all with you on this. Well, I would be after you list, in detail, what laws have been passed to erode your rights as specifically spelled out in the 2nd Amendment.
Don’t worry, I’ll wait.
And wait…
And wait…
“The guy had no (criminal) history and he had it on the side of the front seat of his car in a sack, so I dismissed it,” he said.
And the guy was white, of course. A Black man would know better than to carry a gun in a sack next to the front seat.
You know if just checked the wiki and Kirkwood’s population has decreased since I last checked by 5,000. So they’re tearing down older homes to build bigger homes for less people to live in them?
This is not the same as what actual Sanctuary cities do. They simply don’t notify ICE when they release someone from custody. In this case they are defying the law of the land.
This is fine. Keep them distracted.
We are good friends with a woman who has family that operates a gun shop outside of Chicago. She says that the regulations are nuisance, but they also help reduce competition. The biggest problem for the shop by far is finding workers who aren’t fuckups. Apparently, the Effingham County Board has the same problem.
To date, every explanation but one that I’ve seen for why the rural areas turned away from Democrats has been rejected by careful analysis of the evidence. The explanation that evidence supports is that it is people who fear and resent being part of a society that has been evolving from near-total dominance by white [male] Christians to one that better reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of the human race.
In the UK, researchers have reached the same conclusion regarding the rise of anti-EU, anti-immigrant sentiment and voting. The economic explanation is rejected by the evidence time after time.
And most of them live in the county seat …
Governor Scott of FL did pass a gun bill recently after 17 high school children were killed and it’s got the best of both worlds in it.
One provision of the law raises the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21 from 18.
And the other really stupendous of the law is great, so fantastic, so many right wing fantasies come true.
the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program, which arms some teachers if both the local school district and local sheriff’s department agree. The $67 million provision is named after the coach who shielded students with his own body and died in last month’s shooting.
It’s smooth sailing from now on.
The entire state of California is a sanctuary state, and not notifying ICE is the guiding principle.

Well, sure, if you’re going to go by the evidence. I’m sticking with my traditional, unsupported by facts, feelings.
I live in a very white/Anglo-ish part of southern NH, and don’t travel much outside of my own little rut, but a mere twenty-odd miles takes me to the small city of Fitchburg MA (my youngest daughter lives there) which, at 78% white seems pretty diverse to my eyes; and, occasionally I travel on the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90). The rest stops there tend to be my next biggest immersion in a larger, and presumably more representative, slice of the population. The nativist attitudes still lurking in the darker recesses of my brain sit right up and start commenting on what a “polyglot” country we’ve got going on here. I’d like to think that I’m doing my damnedest to be enlightened and accepting about the changes in the country and its demographics since I came of age in 1961, but it’s easy to see how difficult and scary it can be for people who want to , or choose to, stay in their bubble. However, more goddamned guns are not a useful or adaptive response.
