I’d think she be a much stronger Presidential candidate if see first ran for Senator. I like her, but experiencing Congress could only maker her stronger.
She has a much stronger possibility of winning a Senate seat than she does the Presidency. She would be a great Senator and it would be a great pick-up of a seat for the Democrats.
That said, she is far more qualified by both education and experience than Beto O’Rourke to be President.
How about Buttigieg’s VP?
Two young, articulate, caring, and very bright.
What’s not to like?
Same. As a general rule, I want my presidential candidates to have at least one of serious executive experience (former governor or cabinet secretary) or experience with national and international affairs (i.e., Congress).
So many people are impressed with Abrams. But her SOTU rebuttal speech was alarmingly mediocre. Does anyone have a link to some other speech or interview that demonstrates her qualities?
The nation needs her to run against Perdue to turn a repug Senate seat to Dem. Most of the dem prez candidates are acceptable and could beat the Pumpkin Traitor. What we must have is the Senate.
Shame on Beto for not running again Cornyn. If he could come within 3 points of beating ted fucking cruz, he could beat Cornyn.
It’s the Senate, stupid.
Voter disenfranchisement is the biggest issue right now, and solving that happens on the state level. You can’t get the best people in the house or senate or presidency without being able to vote on a local level. She needs to run for governor again.
There is no governor election in GA in 2020. We need to make progress now. Someone will run in 2022 for GA governor.
I had my first taste of GA politics this past November, and I can see how things are run down here. Multiple cases of voter machine failure, long lines, the usual politics. And it was all masterminded by Brian Kemp, who is now the governor of GA. I guess when you have all the answers, they go and change the questions.
That said, Abrams would be an asset in the Senate. That’s the one place right now that we need to take control of so that Trump and McConnell cannot do any more damage. We’re only 3-4 Senators short of a majority, so it will take some red states turning blue. Abrams can beat Perdue, and Beto can beat Cornyn, now that more people are aware of them.
Re her rebuttal, I respectfully disagree with your assessment of it. But here’s something that, while not serious, shows her to be quick-witted and funny:
I think she should run for senate. I feel that every new Demiocrat that jumps into the race only helps Bernie Sanders.
The SOTU response degrades nearly everyone who gives it, but she bucked that IMO. The situation was silly but the speech itself was good.
