“Today the Court reinforced our position that the 9th District deserves to be represented in Congress on January 3rd,” Harris said, adding: “Based on the Court ruling, I am hopeful the State Board of Elections will act swiftly in certifying this election.”
I bet he is hopeful that this will happen. But a person could argue that the 9th District deserves a Representative that actually was elected by the people. A person could argue that the 9th District deserves a Representative who is unlikely to be perp-walked out of the House when the facts are all known.
If NC keeps up like this, SC may have to sue for defamation.
Let the rat-fucking commence!

Huh?
Stacking up one GOP power play grab on top of another doesn’t give you a free pass to DC, chum.
Sorry Mark. Your guys should have gerrymandered better to avoid this type of situation.
Harris issued a statement Thursday night arguing that the latest court ruling shows he should be certified and seated in Congress when it convenes in January.
And if that excuse does not work, Harris will pitch other reasons to be seated such as “not being in jail at the time,” freedom, and -of course- reasons.
The glibness and the cheating go together, don’t they?
Even simpler, since it appears he was not legally elected by that district, he does not represent that district.
The current board has already determined that it cannot certify based on the current evidence. The only honorable decision is to stick with this determination.
The house should not seat any one under these circumstances.
The Republican establishment which went along a for unknown reasons with the probable cheating in the primary has been searching for a way to re-run the primary. Oddly, iI’ve not seen any info on whether the magnitude of any cheating in the primary would have been large enough to alter the outcome.
The Board’s reasons for further investigation are unclear. Are they trying to find out who was responsible? If Harris can be shown to be responsible, they can get rid if him without having to a way to justify re-running the primary. Are they trying to get info in the primary as well? If the Board has enough information on the general already couldn’t they simply call a new general election without further investigation?

Hey Mark which would be better for your stinkyass reputation:
- get seated in Jan under a cloud- and then have it proven you ratfucked the people in your district, with a big league fine/or jail time
- let the investigation play out but- then have it proven you ratfucked the people in your district, with a big league fine/or jail time
- Just decline and bow out now
These repub liars just keep pushing on no matter what. DO NOT LET THIS LIAR BE PUT IN CONGRESS!!!
Why do we need two Carolinas? We should require that they both combine into one state to be named “Harding”. It only makes sense.
4). The Dems refuse to seat him until the conclusion of an inquiry.
Does anybody know what this actually means? The existing Board that refused to certify because of the ongoing investigation will be disbanded. A new board that operates as it used to before 2016 will then be in place in early January. So what happens then?
The investigation continues, the board issues an order when it’s done.
The republicans seem to think they can win this by forcing the outgoing board to certify, but they forget that the outgoing board is already republican-dominated and wouldn’t take that step.
So it continues, but with a differently-constituted Board? And is it differently-constituted in a way that we like, or in a way that we don’t like?
One that is differently constituted, but has yet to be nominated or formed. With a composition the GOP thought was fine when they controlled the governorship but which they now will argue is unconstitutional.
Thanks, lots more information here, which I hadn’t yet seen.
