Nutshell: it’s surprises me that Rudy is now saying this, but that’s because Trump has mentioned it before and not Giuliani.

This is a May, 2017 quote, in which ‘45’ again states that he can only speak for himself.
“I respect the move,” he says, “but the entire thing has been a witch hunt. There is no collusion – certainly myself and my campaign – but I can always speak for myself and the Russians – zero.”
Sekulow and others have always tried to give Trump, plausible deniability, because the latter would be doomed without it. That said, this is the first time that I’ve seen Rudy go there.,

Man, I saw the headline on this piece and I literally, for real, went off on a laughing jag; that quote is perhaps the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard and the way he’s just been incrementally inching toward this exact lie for months - and then, boom, there it was, staring off the page at me - was too much for me to take.
