Discussion: Rudy Giuliani: President Obama Can't ‘Go Out Of His Way’ To Honor Police

Discussion for article #237408

Tamir Rice would have shown the police some respect, if only there was a gesture available that could be conveyed in 1.25 seconds.

“You don’t disrespect a police officer,” Giuliani said. “He’s a symbol of authority. He’s putting his life to risk for you. You owe him respect.”

But it’s OK to dis the Commander In Chief. On national television. Day after day.

Oblivious irony or deliberate dogwhistle?

Rudy Giuliani opens his mouth and some stupid BS comes out of it. In other news water is wet and grass is green.

Lying asshole and friend of Bernie Kerick…“I unconditionally condemn today’s murder of two police officers in New York City,” the president said in a statement released just after midnight on Sunday morning. “Two brave men won’t be going home to their loved ones tonight, and for that, there is no justification.”

The problem is that many police officers are not respecting the uniform, oath of office or badge.

Oh for Pete’s sake, just go the fuck away already, Mr. Noun, Verb & 9/11.

Giuliani is not credible on this subject. He should really STFU about anything related to race and/or respecting the police.

Platitudes about “respecting authority” are hollow if the authority itself is proving itself unworthy of respect. Especially coming from people who haven’t shown any respect to executive authority and base it all on unsubstantiated or unreasonable criticisms.

Thanks for pointing that out.

According to the Constitution I do have a right to disrespect a police officer and they can do nothing about it.

So when Rudy says, “You don’t disrespect a police officer,” Giuliani said. “He’s a symbol of authority. He’s putting his life to risk for you. You owe him respect;” Rudy is sadly misinformed.

And yes I do understand that disrespecting a police office will likely get me thrown in jail, but for some reason those charges never seem to stick or just get magically dropped.

Rudy. Rudy, respect is earned …not automatic. If a cop shoots someone in the back and then moves his dropped taser next to the dead body to make it look like there was a struggle and all this was caught on video…do you still respect that cop?
And Rudy if you are assuming Obama disrespects police then you are sliding down a dangerous slope buddy.

And Guiliani does not hesitate a moment to show how racist he is to his very core. So what will become of it? Some Sunday talk show producer is probably on their phone to Rudy right now gleefully inviting him to use their soapbox to spread more hate and racism about the president ASAP. And I am only half-joking.

Rudy is a hateful racist, but I can’t express my full opinion of him anywhere it might be seen by children. I’ll admit to having read this quickly - how many references to 9/11 was he able to cram into his latest tirade?
