I kinda understand what Rubio is trying to do and it would be a decent approach for a difficult subject with a reasonable person.

But no matter what DT says today, tomorrow it will be different and tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow will all be different from the previous.

They should write the bill and just move on it, but make sure they have enough votes to pass it over a veto.

Writing it will be the easy part

Making it veto proof will be the hard part

Make sure they have enough votes to pass over a veto? Forget it. Pass the bill, and dare Trump to veto it. There is no override majority. The real test is whether you can get Ryan and McConnell to bring a bill to the floor that relies on more Democrats than Republicans to get a majority (60 votes in Senate). Trump would sign anything (except a $1 million check for hurricane relief) in order to be able to declare a victory.

This is the same thing I’ve been saying to dithering, foolish Democrats. Sponsor the legislation or step aside for real politicians to take a shot. At least for Democrats, it’s the thing that gives Dem base voters a reason to get out of bed on election day in a midterm.

Speaking of the hurricane Harvey, last I heard it was a wonderful thing, everyone was having a good time, and everyone was happy. Has that changed?

Rubio, asking Trump is pointless. Doesn’t Trump pretty much sign anything Congress passes?

He’s never vetoed anything. He didn’t veto Russia sanctions.

He’ll sign any damn thing they put in front of him because he really doesn’t give a shit about policy. He just wants to sign stuff so that he can hold a self-congratulatory party in the Rose Garden. As I’ve said before, he’d sign single-payer into law tomorrow because policy schmolicy. He just wants something he can call a win.

The spectacle of members of the party responsible for the current situation acting like they are concerned about Trump’s trashing of the vulnerable and pretending that Trump could deliver a reasoned solution to any problem of greater complexity than where to put his next monstrosity of a building sickens me to my core. Gormless Rubio knows where the blame lies and pretends he doesn’t.

Rubio if you and your gop would have done your damn jobs on immigration then Obama wouldn’t have had to act on this alone. It’s always the gop who passes the blame when they won’t do their jobs

I believe you are right about that.

I looked it up because the question has been asked several times today. Here’s what I found.

Thank you. I started to google it and got interrupted -

It’s adorable that the twice indicted Texas AG is responsible for that.
