Finding a set of balls two weeks too late…priceless…

I’ve got to quote Chris Hayes again here: If your life depends on Marco Rubio having a spine, you are already dead.

Oh, Florida. Why did you give the Emptiest Suit in the Senate another six years in office?

Yep. He’s trying for the “fighter for the working man” sort of drivel that will get him NOWHERE.

“…saying the media has unfairly influenced peoples’ opinions and that ultimate perception of the bill will be based on “what their paycheck is telling them.””

And their paychecks will inform them they are being screwed supremely.

"that ultimate perception of the bill will be based on “what their paycheck is telling them.”

nah, I am making sure my kids know exactly who passed $1.5 trillion in debt to them, RepubliCons

this way my kids will know that the taxes they are paying tomorrow are taxes that the country’s richest citizens could not be bothered to pay today

Sounds like someone is catching some flack from their constituents

You know, normally I would agree with you except we’ve now got Twitter and some multinational corps seem to be using it “unwisely.”

I believe it was AT&T that claimed they were handing out $1K bonuses to some workers so yay tax bill.

And oh, PS, there’s going to be a round of layoffs in January followed by even more during 2018. So, yeah - yay tax bill.

except for it’s impact on the nation debt, there this tax cut will be certainly realized and recognizable, IMO

Polls : this a nightmare. Don’t do it
GOP : hurry up and pass this!
Voters : WTF is this?
GOP : why didn’t anyone tell us this was not going to be popular?

Nah. This is the sadistic joy of rubbing salt in the wound–of letting everyone know you knew the bill was a garbage fire when you said you voted for it. The phony moderates love getting people’s hope up, and with this “admission” Rubio will keep stringing along gullible rubes for the foreseeable future.

Vete a la mierda, Marco Rubio.

Well Marco, it isn’t the media but my tax return that says that I am looking at a $300 tax increase on a five-figure annual income primarily because of the limitation on the deductability of state and local taxes. And it is not like my house and community are anything large or fancy, pretty much the median for the Boston metro area. Whatever fevered dreams the R’s might have had for picking up a seat in the open race for Nikki Tsongas’ seat in the 3rd CD (Lowell/Lawrence D +9) or flipping the 9th CD (South Shore and Cape Cod which is only D +4) will be crushed by what will too often be a middle class tax increase in blue states.

Marco, you know how Trump is all about firing up his base. Well he is firing up the Dem base even more. I was pissed off before the tax increase, now I’m livid. So I will be sending money to FLA and TX and NC and other places to flip Senate and House seats. I hope you enjoyed being in the minority when you first came to the Senate because you just might find yourself there once again.

Rubio thinks people are stupid. Trump supporters and GOP true-believers might be, but anybody with half a brain is going to see a few extra bucks per month (if they even see a tax cut at all) and will know that it’s not real relief, and probably covers less than half the amount their health insurance premiums have risen by as a result of this bill. And they’re going to know that this is what they’re getting while the company that employs them and it’s executives enjoy a massive cut as they still don’t raise their workers’ wages.

From my recollection, Obama and the Democrats didn’t spend a lot of time talking about those tax cuts. Or maybe they did but it just received very little coverage.

Trump and Ryan are going to be talking about (and lying about) the current tax cuts over and over again. It’s their only real legislative “accomplishment.” And cutting taxes is central to the GOP brand. They’re going to flog the hell out of it. They’re going to find people whose taxes are going down, and hold them up as evidence of what a great deal this is for American taxpayers. They’re going to find (or invent) business people who say that their lower taxes led them to expand their businesses and hire people or give raises. They’ll be pushing all this like crazy around tax time.

So honestly I won’t be surprised if support for this tax plan among the GOP base increases in the coming months. Because they’ll be primed by Fox and Breitbart and Hannity and Limbaugh and all the rest of the right-wing propaganda machine to believe that they’re getting a good deal and that the tax plan is also boosting the economy.

The problem for Trump and the GOP is that this will be most effective only with the minority of voters who already support Trump and the GOP right now.

Bottom line – could help them a bit with morale and turnout from the base (which is why it’s possible that they would have been even worse off electorally if they had failed to pass any tax cuts). But it won’t help them (and will probably hurt them) with swing voters, while also boosting turnout on the Democratic side.

Of course if Ryan is stupid enough to follow through on his stated intention of licking the third rail by spending 2018 trying to “reform” (slash and/or privatize) Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, the tax cut issue is likely to get lost under the wreckage of that derailing train.

Thanks for that very constructive criticism, which was not superficial at all.

Republicans will just bullshit the rubes about: (a) Democrats coming for their guns; (b) Democrats being “baby killers”; © Democrats making Jeebus-loving citizens bake cakes for “the gays”, while Republicans: (a) give $1.5 trillion to Donny and his friends; (b) cut Medicare, Medicaid, and SSDI to pay for it; and © take healthcare away from 10 million people.

Just took the time to go to the County Administrative building, stand in line, and pay the rest of my property tax bill while it was still deductible. The line was long and I can’t imagine anyone in it was thinking kind words about Republicans.
