Discussion: Rubio Defends The Speech He Couldn't Stop Giving At The Debate

Discussion for article #245673

Why am I not surprised that the robot defends being a robot?

maybe someone could do a hard reboot for him… when you’re a tool sometimes that’s the only solution…

Rubio, why are you running against Obama? You should know that he is not going for a third term. Come on and get with it.

“I would pay them to keep running that clip because that’s what I believe passionately,” Rubio said, before trailing off."

So what does he mean by “Obama knows exactly what he’s doing”? Sounds like some vaguely nefarious conspiratorial notion. Doubling down on stupid is overkill for the stupid vote, Marco. Better to plead dry mouth and drink lots of water than speak the wacky dialect.

Marco Rubio is coming across as intellectually lazier, dumber and more air-headed than John Bush the Acronym ÂżJeb? and his brother Dubya the Dumb Torturer.

Ya, this is my question too (not having seen the debate) what the hell does that line even mean in the context of the 2016 Presidential election? Who cares if Obama knows what he is doing? What does that have to do with whomever he might be running against? It just makes no sense to me, maybe you had to see the debate to understand why he was saying it, but from reading the coverage of it here, there is no context to indicate why he said it in the first place.

What a fucking dunce.
It’s like a right-fielder during a baseball game, missing an easy pop fly, and then proudly saying, “I know it was an error, but I’m going to keep doing it!”
Yeah, that’ll really endear you to the bosses and the American public, genius.
FELL THE RUBE, PEOPLE!

Such a bad performance that it tops the stories in this morning’s Los Angeles Times

Because his base loves to hear Obama vilified, matters not if it has anything to do with reality, this election, the future or anything else. Bash Obama and the rabid base is happily triggered into euphoria.

This man/boy is so not ready to be president.

Ahahahahaha, the ODS is strong in this one.

Stop, Marco, you’re killing you! Oh wtf, say it again, Marco, you know you can’t help yourself.

The question to ask Rubio is: “If elected, would you be the sort of President who knows what he is doing?”

I keep thinking about that “Blade Runner” line, when Dekkard asks, concerning a replicant, “How can it not know what it is?”

On the other hand, what else can he say?

“Yes, that was really embarassing. I sure looked like a dope.”

Or,

“You’re right…I’m dropping that thing about Obama knowing what he’s doing. The optics really don’t work.”

No, he really had to be all Trumpish and say that it was the right thing to say and he will say it again. At this point he really had no choice. But I’ll bet a bottle of $8 champagne that he won’t say those exact words again.

For seven years now, the Republicans have been claiming that President Obama is simultaneously feckless and an evil conniving criminal mastermind who controls all world affairs.

Now, with less than a year remaining in his presidency, Rubio is admitting that the man isn’t feckless.

Noted, Senator.

I guess the idea is that all of you who think Obama was just blindly stumbling around in the dark and didn’t have a clue what he was doing when he brought us the ACA and the Iran deal will change your mind once you’ve heard Marco hammer away at you twenty or thirty times.

Then you’ll realize the long-suppressed truth–Obama did know what he was doing–and vote accordingly.

The weird thing, bizarre really, was he kept repeating the same line when called on it repeatedly by Christie. It was like Rubio confirming over and over Christie’s claim that Rubio performs the drive-by shot, then when called on it you get the memorized canned speech. Christie’s “There it is again” retort reminded me of Reagan’s “There you go again” that is the only thing the media replayed from that 1980 debate.

Edit:
And how is it that Trump gets away uncriticized by the media for his repeatedly smug mannerisms, dismissive waves of the hand, telling Bush to shush while bringing his index finger to his puckered mouth, etc… when Gore never recovered from a single simple sigh during his debate with GWB?

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio stood by the lines he repeated at the debate and encouraged Democrats to “keep running that clip” in an interview on Sunday.

Pssst, Marco. I don’t think it’s Democrats “running that clip” incessantly. Watch your back son.
