Discussion: Roy Moore Opponent Doug Jones: 'Men Who Hurt Little Girls Should So To Jail — Not To The U.S. Senate'

Roy Rogers had some right wing politics.
He was a Pat Robertson supporter in 1988.

Before those accusations, [Roy Moore] was best known for getting thrown off the Alabama Supreme Court twice for failing to follow the rule of law[.]

It seems Jones is bringing the heat now - nice to see.

With one week to go, it’s the perfect time for Jones to come out swinging.
He has a good chance of winning.

NO, whoever wins, this election like any other will tell us what the majority of the people who turned out to the polls believe. Nothing more, nothing less. There are lots and lots of good people in Alabama who don’t have any use for Moore. There may or may not be enough (that show up to vote) to bring a good result here. We’ll see.

I’m not trying to excuse or defend Alabama’s terrible history here, but the history of every state in the union is terrible.Writing off all the people of an entire state because of that state’s historical political majority is evidence of the kind of unthinking disdain that Alabama Republicans use to win elections. You’re basically being a textbook illustration of an elitist anti-southern liberal here. Stop handing out ammo to the other side.

“Jones is best known for reopening a cold case and successfully prosecuting KKK members who bombed a black church in Birmingham, Ala. in 1963, killing four young girls.”

And hoo boy howdy does white Alabama hate him for it.

I remember being told once (when I was a teenager) “Any female over the age of 12 is a slut.” And that AL pastor already excused Moore’s behavior with the “wanting a ‘pure’ woman” remark. They probably think that it’s the girls fault for having jobs and going to school. Those femanazi’s made’m do it! /sarcasm

Sounds like excusing to me.

Sure hope there is a coordinated get-out-the-vote program in Alabama right now.

Go ahead and say it about Utah. Everyone here has my permission. All the Republican voters here in Utahistan are due some disdain, thinking or unthinking, they deserve it.

Please. The other side loads it’s own ammo. It doesn’t get it anywhere.

I’m glad to see Jones stepping up his rhetoric. He’s not going to win by playing Mr. Nice Guy.

I think he was right to hold back a bit for a while, not get in the way of the story.

But now it’s time to go for the jugular.

Hit 'em again…harder!

Yes and this is not an ordinary time we’re living in either.

I wish people would quit losing elections before the election has happened. We might win this.

Sorry urk, but we are not talking about all the people in AL, just those who support Roy Moore and those others that allow him to represent them. Maybe some of them hate Democrats so much that they will vote for Moore anyway. Others won’t vote to stop it. Others won’t vote but will in their heart be happy that Moore won. My message to them is they will have to explain their actions or inaction on this one at the Pearly Gates and rationalizations will not cut it there.

And I have good experiences with the people of AL. Years ago I traveled there almost 10 times for business with no experience with overt bigotry. More recently, I was driving a rented RV through AL when it broke down, and the people – including a state trooper – were exceedingly helpful and generous. I have business contacts in AL.

But I know that there is bigotry in AL, some of it overt and some of it – much of it – hidden in people hearts and homes. And maybe if I were black many AL people would not have been as nice and helpful as they were. (Or maybe if they knew I was Jewish!) And let’s make no mistake, the hatred of Ds in AL among much of the population is driven by racism. 40 years ago the Ds were the party of bigots. George Wallace was a Democrat! Once the national democrat party starting with the Kennedys and Lyndon Johnson supported civil rights, most white people switched party affiliation to R and have supported the most bigoted candidate available.

I certainly hope the rest of the country will pass judgment on AL and the Republican party for this. They have said without shame that a child molester and creep is better than any Democrat. They have their rationalizations but deep down its just bigotry affirmed or ignored. If not, this country ain’t worth saving.

That’s what I like. It’s looking like Jones is behind, so now is not the time to play out the clock. Swing for the friggin’ fences. (Oy, mixed metaphor! There’s no clock in baseball!)

Now, in a few days, dial it up even more. Start shaming Moore voters as bad and unworthy Christians for voting for a child molester. Seriously, take the battle to his ground, and act like you own it. Sell yourself as the real Christian and frame him as the devil in disguise. Sink you teeth into his throat. Sure, you may get a little blood on yourself, but if it works, he’ll have his political life draining out of the wound.

Jones needs to hammer Moore like this multiple times a day. Force Moore to come out and debate the issues (which he won’t and can’t). Remind Alabama voters that Moore was removed as a judge TWICE because he thought HIS beliefs were above the law. In that light, a blind man could see that Moore is a lying predator.
