The woman who was abused by Moore when she was 14 has done her best, with amazing courage, to try to tell her story, over and over again. Once again, as in 2016, the media followed the shiny objects instead. I’m beginning to be convinced there’s no hope for us.
The fact that Moore is even competitive at this stage indicates how powerful tribalism is in America.
How else can you explain Moore being close or ahead in polls without even running an campaign and Jones spending 10X the money?
Democrats should be working on destroying the Republican brand, not just individual Republicans.
As Democratic strategist James Carville said,“If you can’t run against Roy Moore, then what kind of party you got?"
I desperately hope that we win tomorrow.
I used to be and perhaps still am a conservative. But Roy Moore destroys conservatism. Trump is an idiot for supporting him.
Roy`s doing an Andrew Anglin - Hiding in Mommys basement .
Black voters are honored to be excluded from the deplorables tribe in Alabama. Voting for Jones would tend to reduce the risk of KKK violence and police shootings, while Moore would certainly raise those risks. “Vote or Die” indeed.
He can run, but he cannot hide from his reputation.
This is what cowards do!
Are you seriously suggesting the media failed to make people aware of that accusation? Because I don’t think there’s a person in Alabama over the age of 5 who’s not aware of it. Or in the country. Saturday Night Live based their opener on it, in part. The media are why Moore’s hiding in the dark like a cockroach during the last week of a Senate run. I think it’s nearly unprecedented.
If you think the media failed because Moore’s still in it at all, you need to look at Alabama voters. Many are just waving Moore’s history away. They don’t care. Talk to them about their choices. But they’ve heard the stories, trust me.
P.S. And yes I’m getting tired of being the usual-suspect media apologist. Trust me, I know their faults. But we know Moore’s history because newspaper people found the women and corroborated their stories. They did their jobs. I mean, come on. This one’s on the voters.
Reminds me of Molly Ivins’ story about the Texas candidate who won only because he got his jaw broken in a fight early on and couldn’t speak for the rest of the campaign.
If Roy Moore wins and goes to the Senate to represent Alabama, it’s because Roy Moore is much of Alabama. And Doug Jones is what a hopefully growing part of Alabama wants to be - but they aren’t there yet.
When I was a twentysomething I spent some time in the Mississippi Delta area, enough time to get to know a variety of people. They’re as varied as people anywhere. Some will appall you with their views, that’s for sure. Others are great. In general there’s much to admire and like there. But yeah, the racism, the fundamentalism, the theocratic stuff, the rest of the appalling part, those folks are becoming more entrenched and extreme in a way that besieged subcultures often do.
I am not sure that you can call them “besieged subcultures” when they keep winning elections. I wish that they were besieged!
Alabama?
Troll banished.

The election hasn’t been held yet, and the Democrat is running close to Moore and might win yet. In Alabama. Every article you could read on the influence of demographics on voting patterns is bad news for the Republicans. Why do you think they keep trying to suppress voting? Trump is president because a white-resentment backlash stormed up out of the fever swamps. That’s because there was a black President with a foreign-sounding name in the Oval Office for eight years.
I hope Doug Jones wins. If Moore wins, he won’t be able to shut up, ever. It’s a bright ` side. 2018 is everything. This Is a sideshow.
Roy Moore’s first year law professor named Moore “fruit salad”. Moore in the Senate will be a disaster for Republicans
Fox News comments are three doors down on the right.
You’re Welcome!
He’s just a sweet memory now.
