Discussion for article #239523
You could have skipped everything about O’Donnell being mentioned in the debate. Seriously, you can’t be that desperate for Trump stories that you have to try and spin the story of a missing young woman into Trump coverage.
As the parent of teenagers, I feel for her. I hope her daughter is found safe.
That dog is hideous…like an Ewok trisome or something.
Context is important. Remember when Trump was talking about bleeding from whatever and they thought he was talking about lady parts but he meant the nose or something?
Maybe Trump had her kidnapped??
It would be irresponsible not to speculate…
Would it be too much to ask what is her daughter’s medical condition? I know reporters probably know the answer to this but why not share this with the public as it is part of the mother’s concern.
Yes, it would be too much to ask. The particulars of her medical condition are private. The fact that she is not taking her meds is relevant because it puts her more at risk.
Indeed, it speaks volumes about the exceedingly poor journalistic methods Ms. Jerde learned to follow and/or the complete failure of TPM overview of what reporters write. A very poor effort by the reporter. Not that anyone at TPM will try to improve things as we know from the survey that was taken but which resulted in apparently nothing new. Except for a plead to remove ad blockers.
My thoughts are with Ms. O’Donnell and her daughter. It is shameful that Ms. Jerde felt it was important to bring Trump into this. Utter failure.
More at risk for what? I know that when a person is reported missing due to Alzheimer for example, it helps the public know how to approach a person without freaking them out, if they’re able to locate that person or come across them. Same for someone they find if they suspect the person is diabetic and suffering from shock. First responders can be called to assist in a medical emergency. Just a couple of thoughts…but perhaps there is a specific reason not to reveal her medical condition we shouldn’t be privy to.
This story is about a personal family crisis. No need for Trump’s name to be included at all. Shoddy work, TPM.
What is hideous about it?
Her tweet specifically addressed the effect Trump’s insult could, and probably did, have on her children. Perhaps you’ve forgotten how cruel kids can be. You don’t think her kids were affected by an insult directed at her mother in front of 24 MILLION PEOPLE?
It would really suck for the parent and for the child to have such a publicized life…explains why a lot of them end so poorly…
A very tenuous connection to what would be pure conjecture at best.
God, what a parental nightmare.
Indeed. I sure hope it all turns out ok.
as the father of a daughter not much older than this, I can well imagine the terror ms. O’Donnell must be feeling right now. I hope Chelsea is soon found, safe and sound, and returned home to mom.
Per a blurb at The Daily Beast, Chelsea has been located and is in police custody. No details…
TPM is only following what the MSM has been doing for decades. If the noteworthy person the story’s about is well-known, they sum up why people should know him/her (“Johnson was a longtime host of TV’s late night show The Zipper Affair”). If the person has recently been in the news for another reason, they add a paragraph about why they’re coming up again. Simple editorial background, not a desperate ploy to get Trump references.
