The comparison between Rosenstein and Giuliani is jaw-dropping.

President Trump selected a superb team of skilled and principled lawyers to lead the Department of Justice and our U.S. Attorney’s Offices,” Rosenstein said, according to Politico. “Our decisions do not please all the people all the time — in case you haven’t noticed.”

That is what the President appointed us to do. It is what the Senate confirmed us to do. It is what the oath of office obligates us to do.”

This almost sounds like he is doing a farewell tour. Rosenstein will probably become more dangerous to Spanky if he fires him.

Dear Ms Lafond
It’s : “Rosenstein shone”
not ‘shined’

He would be a dangerous adversary. Be cautious, Spanky.

It’s amazing the juxtaposition between Trump receiving standing ovations at his rally, compared with Rosenstein at his event in front of the ABA on the very next day. It’s hard to believe they’re part of the same Administration.

Because each crowd is dying to see its man put the other guy in a box.

Nope.

“Shined” is the past tense of “shine” except when discussing the moon or the sun.

It’s one of the anomalies of English.

I’ve never read it. i’ve read ‘he shone among his peers as the…" or "she shone on the podium during her speech’
You’ve corrected me before with good reason thunder, but I’m sticking with my post.

It is refreshing to hear a recitation of how our institutions are intended to function…ever since the Don slithered into the picture, the effort to pervert every long held institution and government function has been on warp speed.

The verb shine has two main definitions: (1) to emit light, and (2) to cause to gleam by polishing. In its first sense, shine traditionally becomes shone in the past tense and as a past participle. In its second sense, shine is traditionally inflected shined. So, for example, we might say, “The sun shone brightly while I shined my shoes.”

Shined is used with an object and is correct as a transitive verb.
Shone is used without an object and is correct as an intransitive verb.

I think the damage Trump has done to many institutions is permanent, insofar as he’s imprinted a set of perversions in the minds of millions that they will not back away from to any great degree. Whole swaths of the population, including millions in their teens, 20s, 30s and 40s have bought into his conspiracies, vitriol and venom, and these are attitudes and opinions set so deep in their psyche now they’ll carry them to their grave in all likelihood. The Trump Effect will curse us for a generation or more.

Now Rosenstein is just taunting Trump.

Do we take that to mean the end is nigh?

Nor do they please all the people some of the time, but they do please some of the people all of the time.

The Emancipation Proclamation was 153 years ago. The 14th Amendment was enacted 150 years ago. How many millions of stone cold racists do we still contend with despite the passing of 150 or more years?
We’ll be dealing with ignorant, hateful, corrosive Trump vermin for decades.

Those millions of people have been there all along, going back to the days of useNET, letters to the newspaper editors, etc. They just didn’t even suddenly come out of the woodwork.

Trump just makes them more gleeful.

In fact, they’ve been around much longer because what we are witnessing is not Joe and Sue America, but instead the undead American evil spirit, which has been possessing bodies since the origin.

Joe and Sue will die, but their dark spirit is immortal.

This is the way it has always been.
