Rosenstein is showing his true colors these days. We should have known this when he did everything in his power to prevent Kavanaugh’s work for the Bush administration from ever seeing the light of day.
In the meantime, people really want to know what’s in it. I’m going to give you the top-line conclusions.’ That’s all he was trying to do.”
No, Rosenstein. He has to give some in Congress the whole report.
This is completely unsatisfactory.
This is some pretty major brown-nosing from Rosenstein; wonder if they’ve got film of him in bed with a dead woman or a live boy.
Rosenstein told the Journal that the attorney general was “being as forthcoming as he can, and so this notion that he’s trying to mislead people, I think is just completely bizarre.”
Says the guy who drafted the CYA memo for Trump to shiv Comey.
This is why he’s staying on? To mitigate the “heat” of the Mueller Report?
Ugh.
“The public, Rosenstein told the Journal, should have “tremendous confidence” in the attorney general('s ability to cover up constitutional crimes, as he so faithfully did for Iran-Contra).”
they really need to include the full quote from Rosenstein
edit: fucking tone deaf:
“What he said is, ‘Look, it’s going to take a while to process the
report. In the meantime, people really want to know what’s in it. I’m
going to give you the top-line conclusions that are wholly beneficial for my boss and the person my 19 page edict on not being able to prosecute sitting REPUBLICAN presidents for obstruction was meant to impress. I want to skew the narrative in my favor.’
Rosenstein has probably been locked in a closet for a few weeks or out of the country so he’s really not aware what’s gone on. Oh, or he wants to defend tRump to the death, that’s probably it.
Did they slap a tinfoil hat on his head as well?
How can he possibly claim that we should have confidence in Barr?
I’m so very sick of these gaslighting asswipes telling us that what we’re plainly seeing isn’t.
Hey, remember, there’s still the long shot that Barr is just doing everything possible to reassure Trump that he’s covering for him, while he’s busy sharpening the shivs.
And Rosenstein has been playing the long brown-noser game the whole time, while definitely playing with shivs.
Are you serious on this one?
In truth, he showed it when he wrote the Comey firing memo. Rosenstein was just the least worst option in the DoJ at the time.
I’m still willing to hold the door open on it. We’ll see, within about a week, when the damned thing actually drops, based on how much is redacted.
ETA: Really, there’s no better way to reassure Trump than these public pledges of loyalty and giving him cover, talk about “spying” on his campaign.
A True Machiavelli would be using that to their advantage.
Anything is possible.
In DC, life on the outside goes on as usual. Behind closed doors? That’s another story. Got home last night. I do love it there, but I couldn’t help smelling the fetid swamp.
How good are you at reading totally black pages?
I can’t figure Rosenstein out. He’s had a taint on him from the beginning, with the letter justifying Comey’s firing. But he also appeared to genuinely allow Mueller to do his work, at least based on the “speaking indictments.” We might feel differently about that when we see the (redacted) report.
This whole thing feels very much like the Iraq war, with Barr almost perfectly playing the part of Colin Powell - both of them cashing in their reputations to push lies. Those lies were and are obvious to those paying attention, but that’s not most people. And the “mainstream media” in both cases is not doing that much to help, dutifully reporting the conventional wisdom no matter how wrong. The last time around was pretty disastrous, with hundreds of thousands of people dying.
The difference is that with the Iraq war we had precious few politicians willing to stand up to it (thank you Barbara Lee!), and this time the House dems seem to actually have a spine. I still have no idea how this will turn out.
It either gets Frday dumped tomorrow or next week’s Friday.
No way they let the media have it on a weekday to really chew on it.
As long as DOJ took my recommendation to use Manafort’s lawyers to assist them with the redactions, very.
I will remain optimistic that America will kick Trump to the curb…
one way or another.
He needs to live to see everything he has gone. Total humiliation.
