Discussion: Rosenstein Briefed Trump On New Indictments Earlier This Week

Clearly this was in the works for a long while. But since Trump was told about this (per Rosenstein) I wonder about the timing. Him telling Trump certainly undercuts the narrative that this is Rosenstein (or the “deep state”) doing this to throw a spinnaker into the works before his Putin meeting.

I found this from Rosenstein’s remarks to be the most interesting:

“Free and fair elections are hard-fought and contentious. There will always be adversaries who work to exacerbate domestic differences and try to confuse, divide, and conquer us. So long as we are united in our commitment to the values enshrined in the Constitution, they will not succeed.”

Rosenstein could just as well have been talking about Trump as Putin. :frowning:

My guess is that this is just a taste, with Mueller spooling out these endictments from time to tine to keep up the pressure and push back against the “witch-hunt” narrative. Rosenstein is clearly on board with the push back.

And Rep. Gosar knows, based on the body language that he’s so good at reading.

If Trump doesn’t push Putin on this issue during Monday’s meeting we can all safely assume the Pee-Pee Tapes are real.

We might get lucky and Trump will return to Moscow with Vlad for an extended vacation.

I hope that somewhere there is an investigation into the hacking of the Republican party and various Republicans. We know it happened. There may even be a moment where Vlad had to decide who to blackmail and who’s emails to release. I doubt that- I think it was always clear to him that he would blackmail repubs and go public on the Dems. I would still like to know who was hacked (and what was- is that asking too much?)

Trump probably thinks he has the power to pardon the Russians.

Must have been a fun conversation.

After yesterday’s shameful display of Republican … (what word to use? What word is profane enough? Oh well.)… we will go with – treachery, I’d say that Rosie just bitchslapped the entire Republican leadership, caucus, and dogcatchers.

EDIT: Beware of the guys who look like Caspar Milquetoast, they’ have a mean streak just waiting.

What? It’s right in the indictment and the article:

“[Russia hacked the] Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign during the 2016 election.”

and…

“also conspired to hack into the computers of state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and US companies that supplied software and other technology related to the administration of elections to steal voter data stored on those computers.”

I figure they hacked the Republicans too. Why would they not?

'Tis but a scratch.

During the Civil War the North invaded the South. But I figure they also invaded the North, too. Why would they not?

“I briefed President Trump about these allegations earlier this week. The President is fully aware of the department’s actions today,”

That’s very debatable.

I wasn’t paying as much attention this week as I normally do, but I’d love to know what Hannity’s show was pushing about the time Rosenstein told Trump about this.

I really hope that the notification was bait for trump. lol, if Dumpty told his boss about it so they could make sure those russians were safely in moscow in advance and there is proof of it…

It’s gonna be a wild summer. :imp:
