Likely just jockeying for extra crumbs…
Collins, Johnson. Just need one more, right?
But repeal of ACA was not offensive?
I was at a dinner party the other night and the token right winger volunteered “why should I vote for an effing Republican when they’re going to raise my taxes”
The dominoes will fall on this one.
Johnson never showed any…ahem…GUTS before…it must be a REALLY crappy bill!
I don’t trust this one especially. He’s one of the special puppets in the Koch brothers show.
I expect RoJo to cave at the end, worthless empty suit that he is, but any time it takes McConnell and the Senate leadership to re-un-reconvince him is pushing this stinker of a bill into the holidays, and come January the broader public and media are gonna be talking midterms in earnest.
Since I can’t believe that Johnson’s been born again, he’s probably holding out for something - a big tax break for Congresspeople, maybe?
Don’t bank on Johnson staying firm on this. His bleat against the current bill most likely is just a lame effort to extract a favor — more likely for his family and donors (almost one the same), than for his constituents.
Alternatively, random nerve firings in his reptilian brain cause him from time-to-time to say “no” to something … anything. If forced to bet, I’d put my money on Mitch getting Johnson’s motor functions back in working order by the time it’s time to vote.
This is a bill that could sink a lot of Republican senators especially if they roll it out in 2018. A lot of Republicans are going to see higher taxes just before the election.
What say you regular order John McCain?
What’s weird is we DO need tax reform. The system we have now is a joke to the big tech companies. We need lots of reform. But none of it’s in this plan.
Dear Wisconsinites: please contact a physician if your Johnson stays firm for more than four hours.
Darrell Issa has said he’s voting no the tax bill. Why? He’s from a district in S. Cal which voted for HRC and the functioning part of his R brain tells him it’ll be harmful for his highly taxed constituents who need very little motivation to toss him out.
@ronbyers I’m counting on blue state Rs folding for the above reasons.
this fucker…again
There is a Chesterton Father Brown mystery story I read years ago about a guy who murders someone and puts the body on a battlefield full of other dead bodies. What a great place to hide a corpse, huh?
I keep thinking about that in this bill. It’s like there is just one thing in there that Trump or someone pulling strings wants and the rest is just distraction. The individual mandate repeal is the latest body on the pile of red herrings.
Don’t count on this guy to do what he says. Plus, uncertainty about his vote may change hearts and minds (to the extent they have hearts and minds) on the Roy Moore issue.
I’ll bet my border collie’s favorite tennis ball that Johnson will cave like a house of cards in the next day or two. I am worried with Collins vacillating comments, but hopefully have my fingers crossed on this monstrosity of a Tax and now Health Care plan. Geesh! What a steaming pile of dogshit this plan is.
Repealing the health law’s so-called individual mandate allows Republicans to save more than $300 billion over 10 years. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 13 million fewer people would be insured after a decade without the mandate and health insurance premiums would rise by about 10 percent.
