Discussion: Romney: 'It's A Little Early' To Support Trump's 2020 Reelection Bid

“And I think the Democrats are going to go further left. They’re likely to nominate someone further from the mainstream of American thought."

What the hell is he using as a frame of reference? Further left than Trump, who is a wannabe autocrat? Further left than Clinton, who is a latter day Rockefeller Republican? And if he thinks Trump will be reelected then how does he define “the mainstream of American thought”?

So many half assed answers, so little time. A guy that’s never been afraid of his thoughts, just afraid to say what they are.

trumpp considered running for governor of NY in 2013 against Cuomo but the money men convinced him to go big in 2016. His platform would have been restoring gun rights.

Mitt:

Let me explain something to you and all those Trump Deplorables… IF I stay right where I am and you move further to the right, I appear to be further to the left. So go fuck yourself.

In today’s Republican party, this is what passes for moral courage.

Mitt Romney’s poor doggy on the roof-carrier had more gumption. For a family particularly one of the Mormon faith to fail to challenge Trump is sheer cowardice.

Trump Jr. supposedly considered it at one point and may give it a whirl in the future. Painful thought.

He’s just outflanking Jeff Flake, hoping that somehow Trump will be gone and he will inherit the prize.
I don’t think he’ll actually work for it, and I don’t see him challenging Trump.

No, Mitt. It’s not too early. It’s much too late.

Too busy sticking his finger into the wind.

Mitt, old sock, you are redefining “feckless” to include all those who wannabe – if they had the courage.

Their absolute defeat in WWII wiped the slate clean for the Germans. It’s what they had to go through to rid themselves of the malady. I’m not sure what the future holds for us. I see no means for the US to wipe the slate clean of Trumpism.

It’s not a Left / Right issue. Its a decent / indecent; a moral / immoral issue. The outrage at Trump is not because he’s Republican. It’s because he’s a filthy liar, who is destroying the moral standards of honest political discourse.

Or someplace else.

I agree with your assessment, but ‘deplorables versus pitifuls’ is to me a distinction without a difference.

Hillary had it exactly right the first time, at that time, only a percentage of his supporters were deplorable. At this point that percentage is pegged at 100%. They’re all deplorables now.

A lady at one of the marches over the weekend had it exactly right:

“What kind of MONSTERS put children in cages?”

Now we know…

What they never mention: what’s the percentage of voters self-identifying as Republican at this point?
Has it changed over the last year and a half?

I believe (hope!) that as the number of republicans drops the evil gets concentrated…

Well stated!

I don’t know. I don’t think I can stand 2+ years of looking at Mittens, unless he suddenly becomes interesting and starts to go after tRump in a proper way.

It would be like a battle between the Angel Moroni and his white minions and the Orange lard-ass alien blob and all of his little blobs.

That would be a site to see.

The only times this invertebrate slithered off the fence were when he okayed destroying people’s jobs to fill his mink-lined pockets.

And never at all wouldn’t be to late.
