Keep crying over the statues glorifying traitors who killed Americans in defense of slavery Trump.
The more you do that, the faster they will be taken down.
So…that was a really successful rally to save the South’s “heritage,” wasn’t it? How many monuments gone now? Those guys really understand political activism, don’t they…
Rust Belt Confederate statues are entirely the product of the KKK’s revival in the 1910s/1920s. Chuck 'em all in the scrap heap.
“Whether events of the past may have been celebratory or unpleasant, it is important that we remember the culmination of all such events is what has transpired and shaped this great nation, including Franklin Township,” the township administrator Traci Stivers said in a statement.
Fine with me…now she needs to be asked how did the Civil War start again?
and though his thoughts (knock on wood) about this subject had more to do with the SC church shooting, this is a statement that ‘proto candidate’ Trump made about the Confederate battle flag.
"I think they should put it in the museum and let it go," Trump said of the flag during an appearance at his new golf course in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. "Respect whatever it is you have to respect, because it was a point in time, and put it in a museum. But I would take it down. Yes."
Anyway we can turn this into a “two-fer” and remove the President? (Pence won’t be long to follow.)
WTF is there even a RE Lee monument in Ohio in the first place?? Ohioans fought, bled and died in opposition to confederacy but there’s a monument to the treasonous leader of the confederate army?
Jimmy Kimmel suggested we make Trump king, then hustle him off to a castle in Florida and lock the door. We’ll ignore his racist outbursts on Twitter the same way the Brits ignore Prince Philip.
Considering that over 11,000 Ohioans died in battle and over 35,000 died as a result of the Civil War, can someone tell me what the justification is for putting a Confederate monument in Ohio?
That isn’t Ohio’s “heritage”.

Add to that a pinch of sympathy sitting in the White House in the form of Woodrow Wilson.
Yup, I’m okay with scrubbing Wilson’s name off of buildings/institutions/bridges if that accelerates this process.
“our beautiful statues and monuments”
…
It’s good to see that Trump’s words and wishes are causing people to do the exact opposite thing. They all can see how wrong this is after being hit in the head with the events in Charlottesville and are ignoring the racist in the White House.
Not just the rust belt.
So ironic (and just) that Trump’s “whatever Obama did, I’ll seek to undo” has morphed into “everything Trump touches becomes toxic.” Brand, movement, statues, staff.
Keep Tweeting, Donald. Just. Keep. Tweeting.
Yeah well I can’t go quite that far because it would be a slippery slope. What I do think is we need to be honest about racism in this country and discuss it openly.
Not gonna happen anytime soon. That’s what happens when you keep sweeping things under the rug for centuries. The issues are so deeply buried now, it’s close to impossible to bring them out into the light.
Nice citation. I just posted a link to it on my Facebook page.
thanks
First they came for my lawn jockey, and I said nothing…
Correct, but their heartland was Indiana and Ohio. The former was where D.C. Stephenson rose to prominence until he kidnapped, raped, tortured, and chewed on a white woman.
@26degreesrising Wilson is a special case for me because of his role in segregating DC, and that after making promises to the African American community and failing to appoint even a single black person to a high-level post as was standard for that time. He grew up during Reconstruction and never left the racial grievance behind when he moved to Princeton.
