Discussion: Rob Ford: 'Rehab Is Amazing'

Discussion for article #222487

From everything I’ve ever heard or seen, if rehab is fun, you ain’t doing it right.

There is considerable belief here in Toronto that Ford has never entered rehab at all. That he’s holed up at his family’s Muskoka cottage.

Ford is lying. This is 2014. Most of us know people who have been through rehab. This is not a man in rehab.

He’ll spin out and crash into the ground shortly after this diversion.

Given that he was on a plane trying and failing to land in Chicago two days ago, even if he entered rehab immediately after that, he should be firmly in the “this sucks so bad, I’m not sure I should have come” phase. Sounds like he’s parroting his general impressions of how some people who successfully complete rehab feel about it afterward. His current whereabouts? On a river in Egypt.

Since he had admitted, on tape, that he was a crack smoker, the U.S. at Midway Airport decided to not allow him to enter the U.S.

I too, doubt that he is in a rehab facility. He has a recorded history of lying; why should we expect him to tell the truth now?

The best part of getting out of rehab, assuming he’s not going to use for 28 days or so, is that the user needs far less to get high when he starts in again.

He’s clearly not in it to win it, as it were…he’ll be wasted within hours of leaving rehab. I’d bet on it. People usually don’t get recovery until it’s the most important thing in their life.

He is, no doubt, a despicable buffoon - but possibly the more repulsive aspect to this is the circle of evil clowns around him who are using him as a vehicle for their own advantages & benefits - in a sense from an amusement & tortured personal side there is a more than a casual similarity to Chris Farley here - so many people are seeing him as oh so entertaining and amusing and useful for their own purposes … and yet they chose to ignore the overwhelming probability of his ultimate personal destination.

Rehab . . . not fun in any way, shape or form.
Who thinks Rob will celebrate getting out of rehab by
smoking crack? Sigh.

Would imagine that he sought “rehab” - but on his terms - and most reputable rehab facilities won’t play that way… so that is how he ultimately ended up in a place that was “fun”
… he may be one of those people who will need to hit bottom so hard that it will end up that other responsible people will make choices for him .

That’s also a big downfall of rehab…because the person doesn’t realize that his/her tolerance is gone, uses the same dosage and ends up turning blue in someone’s bathroom.

What ‘rehab’ allows participants to talk to ANYONE ‘outside’ in the first few days?

  • one of the “boutique” and fringe so-called “rehab” places where the greatest expertise is actually found in the credentials of the marketing management - the “Rehab” that will charge a ton of money and design the “Rehab” to match your every whim.

As a poverty lawyer for a legal aid society, I saw dozens of people who were addicted to crack. And it only took less than 10 consumption events to have them hooked. I never saw a single one who could and did remain clean and sober. Crack is so much more addicting than heroin and even Oxycontin that it is known in the drug world as the ‘drug of no hope.’ Robomayor will be back on the graveyard spiral of crack addiction within 20 days of leaving rehab, count on it. That is, if he really IS in rehab. From his idiotic description of rehab, he isn’t even close to a rehab facility, let alone in one.
