Discussion: RNC Spox Keeps Going After Tim Kaine For Defending Death Row Inmates (VIDEO)

Deplorables say deplorable things. It’s a feature, not a bug.

The death penalty is not a political winner anymore. These folks are running with an 80s meme that is just not going to gain them any new votes.

once again a Republican displays his total ignorance and contempt for the Constitution…

 It seems some Deplorable needs my pocket Constitution.

The weakness of this attack (“you didn’t kill him, he’s just sitting in prison now”) highlights how little they have to attack Kaine.

If you are ever charged with a crime you will immediately see the value of a criminal defense lawyer. The burden of proof falls on the prosecution in America.

Drag 'em out and shoot 'em types assume they will never be charged with a capitol crime. Cops are not perfect. Stuff happens.

First, I don’t give a fuck whether they included white people int he tv commercial or whatever. This is race-baiting the white fright, white supremacist, white nationalists. You say “rape and murder” to those fuckers and I guarantee the first thing that comes to mind for them is an image of a big scary black man. They know…wink wink…what message the RNC is intending to convey.

Second, I don’t think it’s terribly effective propaganda on anyone else. If you’re a die hard “fry 'em all” type, then you’re probably already a GOPer/Teatroll anyway. Most other people, I would think, understand the fundamental concept of innocent until proven guilty and the need for defendants to have rights and defense attorneys in order for our justice system to provide even a basic semblance of justice. I really think this demagoguery falls flat in that regard, which is partly why I can’t see any other reason for it but the race-baiting part.

They are against public defenders. Why does the GOP hate the constitution?

But Sean Spicer was unapologetic about calling Kaine out for defending accused rapists and murderers, despite the accused’s constitutional right to representation.

Becuz in Herr Drumpf’s Amerika they’d be promptly hung without a trial.

They don’t hate the Constitution. They just distinguish between the objectified object of worship they venerate and the scribblings on a piece of paper that unconscionably protect blah people from getting what they deserve.

This is like the slippery-slope attack—you use a poor argument for lack of a better. It’s like the way they surgically attach the words “tax and spend” to the word “Democrat.” Just weak, thin stuff.

Spicer prefers his Constitution on a roll.

Seriously the RNC tool is offended that Kaine represented Death Row Inmates. That should be disqualifying for the RNC. The American approach to justice demands that every death row inmate receive the best representation possible. It is the American way. This RNC spox is unAmerican as is his boss Donald Trump.

“It’s not just about the death penalty,” Spicer added. “It’s about making sure they served the least amount of time possible. That’s a big difference. You know, it’s amazing how quick everyone runs to Tim Kaine’s defense.”

Yes, dumbass, because that’s the job. The defense attorney is supposed to defend their client to the absolute utmost of their ability. The idea that everyone is trying their hardest to win absolutely as much as they can is baked into the system, and part of why the adversarial system works.

Holy fuck, these Republicans are some mendacious motherfuckers.

Indeed. Still majority support, but lowest percentage in 40+ years. http://www.gallup.com/poll/1606/death-penalty.aspx

I’m adding this guy to my Deplorable Cocksucker list. He’s not quite on my Total Fuckhead list. And only one guy is on my Wouldn’t Bother Me if He fell Over Dead list. I have lists. In your face, Santa Claus.

So they are attacking him for doing his job?

Yesterday morning: “Hey everybody, we’re going Willie Horton on Kaine!!”
Yesterday afternoon: “I never mentioned Willie Horton! How dare you smear me like that?!”

Trumpitis is not an aberration; it’s an epidemic.

Ok, this definitely SHOULD NOT HAPPEN as an actual ad (because it gives the accusations credibility), but it amused me to think about it:

“In the American Criminal Justice System, the people are represented by two groups: The police who investigate crimes, and the district attorneys who prosecute them. Ensuring that these men and women get it right falls to the Criminal Defense Attorneys who protect against simple human error. These are their stories.”

DUN-DUN

[V.O. shifts to Kaine]
“Part of what makes our system of justice work is that both sides have to fight hard to make their case. If the defense attorney isn’t doing his job, money gets wasted and the courts get tied up in appeals. Worse, innocent people get put in jail for things they didn’t do. The Republican Party knows this, but they keep trying to say defense attorneys are bad, just because they hold the system accountable. Why do the Republicans hate the Constitution?”

DUN-DUN

“I’m Tim Kaine, and I approve this message. Because some day, the person they accuse might be you.”
