He better start stroking them checks and buying some ad time before it’s too late. If it’s not already
It’s an interesting trap that Trump laid for himself…
He’s proclaimed (loudly and often) that he’s REALLY, REALLY RICH and didn’t need the “fat cats” to donate to his campaign… hence small donation folks might buy a hat, but that’s all – after all, Trump has told them that he doesn’t need the money.
Having proclaimed his WEALTH (huge, really big dollars, fabulous), it make it that much harder for this narcissist to switch gears and say he needs money – especially when folks like this RNC guy proclaim that the lack of campaign cash can be taken care of with the “stroke of a pen”.
I also think that there’s more than a bit of billionaire’s club comeuppance that he’s desperate to avoid – namely passing the hat people he (Trump) considers his peers. The disdain coming from that group who absolutely know that he’s not nearly as rich as he claims must be palpable. Every social slight from the Trump clan is now being weighed against the potential to get even – IF Trump does the big ask.
As a side note, Dana Bash made a throwaway comment last night when the talk about Trump writing a check – she noted that he’d probably have to decide which building to sell in order to raise any more cash because he’s got liquidity problems. Unfortunately, Wolf went right past that faster than Halperin boarding the Trump yacht.
Why the hell did the RNC not go after this pos in the primary? I mean I realize a lot of the stuff he was saying was all straight from the republican play book if a bit less in code, but they should have been able to tear him down financially or something. How the fuck is he one of two choices for president of the most powerful nation in the world. Fucking scary. And the republican party is trying to make him seem reasonable which is even scarier.
Two words: Rience Priebus
Doubtful in my opinion. He still owns a massive amount of real estate well into the hundreds of millions. I think liquidity might be the major issue.
Either way, once again, this guy was just allowed to lie on national television. Trump has not been self funding his campaign. He’s been loaning it money that he can make interest on. He’s also been funneling millions of dollars into his own businesses and paying his family salaries (I actually think they should get salaries, but if he’s so rich, then by extension aren’t they?)
And if he could cut a check and give personally, why did he only give $45,000?
This is a fun news cycle for pundits, anchors and journalists, but it should revive the call for Trump’s tax returns and the fact that he lied to primary voters and then got the nomination and decided not to release them.
Still don’t understand why Cruz, Bush, Rubio (etc.) voters aren’t absolutely furious over all his lies.
Most likely he “owns” all that real estate like I “own” my house. My name is on the contract — but by the time I would sell up and pay off the bank that holds my mortgage, I won’t have much cash left…
“If you look at the months going forward whether it’s the low dollar activity that we’re seeing in the mail and the phones or the people that really want to meet him at some of the in-person fund-raisers, there’s tremendous intensity,” he told CNN. “As much as I appreciate everyone’s concern over our finances, when you look at it in totality year-over-year, we’re doing really, really well.”
Looks like we’ve got another “Baghdad Bob.”
… he just strokes a check…
And what? His bottomless ATM ejaculates rhythmic spurts of gold and currency all over the faces of his debtors?
(Sorry…) Keep it classy, GOPers!
Ok I’m gonna say it, can we leave her out of this? She isn’t the candidate.
show me the tax returns.
You do and I am sure this will be a big concern for any donors, because why would they want their money to just go back to Trump? Specially in light of reports that he is paying family, himself and his companies.
No nothing that well thought out.
do NOT accept a post-dated check from donald trump.
I actually feel for her. Eastern Europe is full of beautiful young women who will do literally anything to get the hell out of Eastern Europe. Donald is what Melania did to get out and it has to be one high price to pay.
I’m sure they are, but they are too beholden to the GOP/conservi-trash money trough to risk alienating their donors. To them, any R is better than any non-R.
She isn’t the candidate.
She’s entirely representative of the candidate, and it’s not off-topic. The fact that the GOP Presidential candidate chose to marry a soft-core porn model is meaningful, especially given the background context of the absurdly ignorant and deeply racist horseshit flung at Michelle Obama for eight years. Not to mention the background context of the equally absurd shit thrown at HRC for eight years before that.
The fact that so many Evangelical Christianists have wholeheartedly embraced Trump and his family is just one of the seemingly innumerable instances of galactic-level hypocrisy on the part of the “family values” God-botherers that comprise the GOP base. If that photo was of Chelsea Clinton and not Melania Trump, the entirety of the Christian right, the GOP world, and FoxNews would be blaring it from every conceivable media outlet as proof of the unGodly sinful nature of the Democratic Party.
And no, Melania Trump doesn’t turn me on in the slightest. She’s as artificial as Trump’s finances.
strokes a check
I’m guessing the “stroke” will be Donald’s…
Sorry Mr Spicer, it wasn’t Hillary who came up with these figures but rather the Federal Election Commission. So what you are saying, if I were to use polite language is an untruth. In plain language it’s a fucking lie.
So it’s false to say that he has $1.3 million.
Funny, that’s what the FEC filing says he has.
So is the RNC spox saying Trump filed a false FEC filing?
Isn’t that a Federal crime?
