Discussion for article #245846
where is the polling that he has any national constituency. i doubt even half of the country knows he’s a former mayor of nyc – besides, which, that’s not going to be a plus to many of them. and his billionaire status isn’t going to work like trump’s does… trump was known as much as a celebrity as a billionaire. plus he’s a bully – that’s a huge attraction to a certain segment. the only people cheering him on are the media eager to buddy up to him, and the political consultants with dreams of tapping into the campaign booty.
Said the man with no analytical skills.
He’ll probably run if it’s Sanders vs. Trump. I don’t think he runs if Hillary gets the nomination because then he really has no path to victory.
Really? He thinks a relatively sane alternative (or “out”) for for non-batshit GOPers to choose instead of voting for Trump or Cruz is going to help the GOP?
He’d peel a few votes from Hillary in the NE, but sheesh, not enough to matter nationally.
I think he’s right. If you look at Bloomberg’s positions - pro-gun control, pro-choice, pro-gay rights - he seems far more likely to poach dissatisfied Ds than Rs.
I doubt it. Not with Trump as their standard bearer. I think Bloomberg gives sane GOPers an out. The only thing that would make Bloomberg “damaging” to Sanders to Clinton MIGHT be his gun-saftey advocacy.
Is this his way of being fair and balanced? The desperation just reeks from Preibus. He reminds me of Rubio.
If Sanders gets the Democratic nomination, Clinton just might support Bloomberg.
The polling against any candidate (Clinton, Sanders, Trump, Bush, etc.) indicate that he starts off with a base of about 30% support regardless — and he’d be more likely to take typically Republican states than Democratic ones.
Bloomberg is a vocal supporter of abortion rights, recognizes climate change as a real threat, is very pro-gun control, is strongly in favor of stem cell research, and supports gay marriage.
That huge crowd of Republicans who fervently love gay marriage and gun control and abortion rights will be coming out of the woodwork in New Mexico and Virginia and North Carolina and Florida and Ohio to vote for a tiny Jewish guy from New York City.
Was Rinse speaking from his undisclosed safe-house?
I can’t imagine him appearing in public…
He said as much. It’s a threat to Democrats; if you don’t nominate Hillary, He’ll make sure the Republican wins. Hillary says he’s a “good friend”.
Bloomberg made this threat just before the Iowa Caucus, and just before the New Hampshire primary. I guess he’ll be putting his thumb on the scale like a good Clinton surrogate just before every primary until a winner is chosen.
So Mr. “The level of discourse isn’t up to my personal standards” is willing to let the country burn to the ground for his own pride or something, is what I’m getting from this.
If it’s Sanders vs. Trump, unfortunately for all the “worst thing of all time” people, that means the voters chose. That means they voted for Sanders, and Trump. So no he’s not going to be a sane alternative, he’s going to be 2016’s Nader and will reap all the richly deserved scorn for screwing that up too.
If Bernie is selected over Hillary, then Bloomberg isn’t going to suddenly peel off Bernie’s votes just because “reasons”. People who argue this guy is somehow going to be the guy on the white horse are seriously not thinking straight.
30% of the GOP that are pro-choice and the 32% of GOPers who support same gender marriage will gladly be looking for an out if Trump or Cruz is their standard bearer, neither issues are going to be what the race will turn on I might add (though I could see Cruz being stupid enough to go jihad on women and gays in the race).
Priebus has the personality of a, um, er, um. Well, he has no personality. He is disgusting.
LOL. RNC chair admits that Republicans can’t win with election based on their ideas alone. So besides ID laws, voter suppression and redistricting, good old Priebus hopes Bloomberg will split then Dem ticket so Repubs can win. Michael, are ya listening? Stay the hell out this race. Your billions may have bought you a third (unlawful) terms as mayor in NYC, but the country doesn’t need you splitting the vote to give the Donald the Presidency. Please do get some treatment for your ego mania. Sheesh!
If my three choices are Trump, Sanders, and Bloomberg, I have to go with Bloomberg.
So you’ve said. Also, Obama knows exactly what he’s doing. Pass it on.
