Yes, in a sense, but to me his biggest problem is his essential nature as a human being.
A mayor’s role as an executive, overseeing multiple agencies and the like, is actually much closer a role to the Presidency than the Senate is.
Yet we never ask what makes them qualified to go from passing legislation to implementing it.
Quite frankly I’m all for oppo on Buttigieg, Sanders and anyone else. Let’s get it out there now and the Russians or the Republicans won’t be able to find anything juicy later.

This is what too often passes for substantive reporting. I’d rather see articles about policy differences, or the potential problems if Dems savage other Dems before we get to the general election, etc etc etc. No one will, I hope, reach Trump’s levels of scurrilous attacks, but why feed him material to use? This stuff gets me very worried. Of course oppo research is happening. Every campaign does it, but that shouldn’t be the focus.

It is a weak spot, probably the biggest one. Running against Trump does help, as he had no political experience, though he did run on business experience. I would ask, a 1 term as Senator a good resume to run on? Half the candidates haven’t even finished their first term and neither did Obama. So if state wide elected office experience matters then that narrows the field a lot.
538 had an interesting article about this phenomenon. Politicians in Red States, even great ones, will have little chance of winning state wide office in the current political environment. This is a primary reason Buttigieg and Beto are in the race and why Abrams is being considered as a top VP pick.
