Trade wars are good and easy to win.
Love to have that Republican limited government free from regulations.
Karma is a steely eyed bitch, Dotard…
It won’t be long before trump asserts that he deserves a finder’s fee for the transactions the government now must approve.
I mean, I’m sure he’s asserted this privately…
This is what the Republican era of picking winners and losers looks like.
His finder’s fees on Russian steel will make a nice complement to the finder’s fees and commissions he’ll receive from Oleg Deripaska once sanctions are lifted on aluminum imports from Rusal.
Fun Fact: The largest exporter of steel and aluminum to the US is/was our mortal enemy Canada.
More than 50 percent of the comments weren’t delivered until 48 hours or less before the comment window closed. It took department an average of nine days to post comments online after receiving them, according to the analysis.
Another reason why legislative experience is important: poorly-designed regulations, even if well-intended (which I don’t assert applies here), are vulnerable to being gamed by players who are even halfway competent.
The most prolific commenters were Nucor and U.S. Steel with 1,064 and 1,009, respectively.
Pro-small-business Republicans once again saving mom & pop shops from the crushing boot of needless government regulation! For those who don’t know, Mrs. US Steel is a real sweetheart, and old man Nucor once helped me paint my deck in exchange for a beer and a hotdog.
“It’s hard not to interpret that the Commerce Department wants domestic suppliers to have an edge,” Shackel Captain Obvious said.

“The 20,000-plus waiver applications that the Commerce Department has received illustrate the chaos and uncertainty ignited by Trump’s trade war against America’s allies and adversaries.”
I’m sure they were totally prepared for this with additional resources and people assigned to deal with waive requests. After all, out of 20,000 - according to the article’s reference to the analysis by Republican Rep. Walorski - 760 requests have been approved while 552 have been denied. They’ve dealt with less than 10% of the applications.

I am the Donald and if you are suffering, you are suffering for me.
I shall appear big and strong to the world and my followers.
Do this in remembrance of me and put away your selfish thoughts.
Remember it is only me that matters and you shall be set free.
Commerce doesn’t have the staffing. Imposition of tariffs wasnt anticipated. Just like DHS and HHS didn’t have a compuer and logistical system in place to deal with Familiacaust.
But at least Commerce has an excuse. DHS, and HHS had months to prepare and trial run their child abduction and pedophile supply scheme. Yes nothing was done. Three to four meetings would have provide presentation and discussion of the legal, IT and logistical challenges involved in implementing I Wetback Sequestro. Yet, nothing.
That’s pretty good, considering Trump & the GOP are only looking out for 1% of Americans.
Correction: Operation Wetback Sequestro.
Trump: If it helps my family financially, I will waive the tariffs. No questions asked. Win Win.
