Forget it, Jake, it’s Mississippi!
That sounds strangely like an excuse we should’ve stopped making 50+ years ago. She’s an abominable racist, white nationalist, anti-democratic, neofascist pigdog and should be spoken of as such, and where she comes from in this country should no longer be referenced for her…or anyone…as a shrug and “whatchagonnado?” type thing, even if Mississippi is the epicenter of this rotten racist country’s racist rotting racism. Fuck her. Fuck the GOP. And fuck anyone who opposes Trump but supported the GOP during its 50+ years of blatantly, foreseeably, predictably ramping up to this very situation, but who now wants to pretend they can get into heaven by pish-poshing at Trump and the horrifying debacle we’re living though, as if they did not have, at the very least, CONSTRUCTIVE knowledge they were enabling it all and to which they were gleefully contributing. Rick Wilson may be a fun enemy of my enemy, but he and the rest like him are STILL MY ENEMY.
NO MERCY. NO QUARTER.
Trump in the White House, Hyde-Smith in the Senate, its all a national embarrassment!
If–when–enough Mississippians get tired of hearing this and decide that something must be done, things will begin to change.
You’d think that even though they like that she’s a Klanswoman there’d be some blowback simply because she’s obviously so fucking stupid. I know that you have to be mentally challenged to be a White Nationalist Cultist, but sheesh, she seems to score somewhere between gravel and a can of vanilla icing.
Mississippians have proved to be resistant to criticism and have striven to keep their state last in pretty much every category of human development. But they aint going to have New York Jews telling them how to run their state.
Cindy Hyde-Smith is a swine that fits the pigsty.
Have you ever been to Mississippi? I have.
They’ll never stop insisting on being the mascot of the Confederacy and never admit the Cause is Lost.
Fun tip: Mississippi has been so broke for so long they can’t even afford a monument for a Mississippi regiment that fought at the battle of Shiloh at Shiloh battlefield. They’re still asking for handouts for that one.
The instant you hear her voice—not the accent, but the mindless, blank quality it has—it hits you like the smell of burning rubber. So, so very stupid.
Yes. It was very interesting. Lots of great individuals. Lots not so great. And unfortunately the not-greatness is deeply ingrained and institutionalized. But I insist on the great ones too.
They were all sitting around the table waiting for Rick to go there.
That’s what get me too, that she has been elected state official for so many years, and this was best that they could send to DC?
Do we even want to discuss that fact that she was elected as a Democratic pol for so many years until 2010 or so? It took her this long to figure out she needed to be in the Republican party? I mean right there you know she’s not dealing with a full deck.
Stable genius steps on it again:
MS has the largest population of black voters than any state. MS also does all it can to suppress the black vote. The numbers are there to flip MS, but the question is whether or not black voters will turn out AND get to vote. For what it’s worth, the only recent public poll I could find had Hyde-Smith up 10%.
Mississippi, the first longish word we all learned to spell in grade school. And that, my brothers, is the single most noteworthy thing about Mississippi.
Second noteworthy thing. We were taught that if you wanted to count to three seconds in your head, spell out Mississippi.
Only the diehards. The state officially ratified the 13th Amendment five years ago, implicitly acknowledging the lost cause.
Mississippi ratified the amendment in 1995, but the state never officially notified the US Archivist. On January 30, 2013 Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann sent the Office of the Federal Register a copy of the 1995 resolution, and on Feb. 7, the Federal Register made the ratification official.
Keep in mind what was voted into the WH. Unfortunately too many Americans are racists or white nationalists. Enough to elect a president, a congressman from IA, and now likely a senator from MS.
Gotta be honest, I am concerned by the number of people who vote for these fascist candidates. What really is America?
Is that a step up from his pronouncement that "Most people don’t even know that he’s a Republican, right? Does anyone know? A lot of people don’t know that.”
All true. Not sure how anything you said is inconsistent with anything I said. These people need to be BROKEN, not just broke. It’s the only way.
It’s really quite amazing how much of an autonomic reflex the “Lincoln was a Republahblah” retort is for them when their demonstrable racism is on full display and gets called out, no? Boggles the mind.
