Discussion: Rick Scott, Sanctions, And A Shady Gun Maker With Russian Ties

damn, scott needs to be dropped through a meat grinder. A real one and then fed to the fishes.

Remember back in the day, when St. Reagan warned us about the coming Ruskie invasion?

You can’t spell “Rick Scott” without, “fuck you, you fucking ghoulish motherfucker”

It is clearly time for Rick Scott and Miniscule Marco Rubio to apologize to the citizens of Florida, and then promptly resign from their respective offices. Both of them have placed politics above human life. They are forever stained by the bloodbaths in Orlando and Parkland. and, more egregiously, with then failing to take steps to outlaw assault weapons and large capacity magazines.

It’s a little more complicated than that 1st term: Money money Money and a weak Dem candidate (Alex Sink)they started bashing when it was rumored she might be running 2nd Term: Money money Money and a weak Dem candidate (Charlie Crist -Republican turned independent turned Democrat) they started bashing when it was rumored he might be running
[/quote]True, but its a bit more complicated than what you point out. Florida has a solid voting bloc of right wing Cubans in the southern part of the state (thankfully they are dying out and the younger generation does not share their views). AND we also have a solid voting bloc of working class retirees in the central part of the state migrated from the northeast, who are staunch Fox News watchers (thankfully they are also dying out, but still strong). And finally, the Panhandle area in the north is also very conservative (they don’t call it Lower Alabama for nothing), aside from the state capital in Tallahassee. So it is an uphill battle for any candidate who leans to the left, no matter how strong or weak they appear to be.

“Yelena Kalashnikov” Shouldn’t that be “Yelena Kalashnikova”? Just sayin’.

Rick Scott should already be in a federal pen as a felon and now this? Florida is such a fucked-up place. Wonder if Disney and Universal and all the cruise ship lines could put some pressure on the state government? Other than agriculture, tourism is really the only industry the state has. There are other things, but tourism is just behind ag and employs a lot more people.

True. But I would be willing to bet that the historically liberal Jewish bloc of voters out numbers them by now and they live predominantly in Dade and Broward Counties. Equally aged, their numbers aren’t decreasing whereas the conservative post-Castro Cubans are, as you note, in decline.

I’ve always understood that it’s the north and the panhandle part of the state that are the problems.

@jeffrey
Well I live about 20 minutes north of Orlando and it’s pretty much Redneckistan from here on up with some breaks in Gainsville a college town

It’s up to the people of Florida to make that happen. It’ll come. Slowly, but it’ll come.

And let’s not forget the many refugees from Puerto Rico from after Maria that migrated to FL. They really don’t like any Republicans just now, given what’s happened and is still happening to their home island.

Florida: The further north you go, the further south you get.

Well I’d say I was pretty much on with my geographical cut-off then.

The larger point being, as NC learned with losing both NBA and college basketball games, tourism dollars trump (no pun intended) local politics. The Mouse is certainly not the most forward thinking of companies, but gay and brown people dollars are just as welcome as white hetero dollars and you certainly can’t pack heat into Disney or Universal attractions, to my knowledge.

“Lunatic Rick” Scott

Gun guys I know think the AK is a piece of junk, unless you’re way out in the jungle or the desert and need something that will fire, however inaccurately, no matter what. Guess it’s the big banana clip.
A little surprised that Ryan Zinke isn’t involved with this somehow. Maybe they’ll relocate to Whitefish.

Wait! Are they arguing that arming teachers isn’t a good idea?

This should be an indicator of the ineffectiveness of the measures being proposed most prominently. If a weasel like this guy who is 100 percent in the tank for the NRA (he got an A+!) supports them they must be inconsequential.

Raising the age for purchasing is a good start but not enough. Reducing access for the mentally incompetent is so vaguely defined and affects so few that it will not matter in practice. Arming teachers is of course loved by the NRA because it means more customers.

This guy is a fraud, so anything he proposed has to be looked at with a huge grain of salt. The only solution that has been proven to work in the entire rest of the world, is dramatically reducing access to firearms. And even if we take meaningless baby steps like those being floated by most politicians, let’s be intellectually honest and admit we are pushing up against the second amendment; then take the logical next step of starting a repeal process.

Russians are being allowed to make guns in FL and sell them to American Nazis? What kind of game are the Republicans playing with Moscow?

There was also Jeb who as governor had his hand in weakening firearms laws.
