Well, thereā€™s the Florida shooterā€™s case.

Schools are liberal dens eliminating God, teaching science, promoting sex, housing union activists, and crisis actorsā€¦ the government denounces public schools, vilifies teachers, cuts their fundingā€¦

Clearly, his was a pre-emptive effort at self-defense.

and created at least 54 jobs.

Wow, 54 jobs! If only 17 people hadnā€™t been killed a week ago heā€™d have 1/3 of those jobs filled already! Or maybe if 475 children hadnā€™t been killed from 2010-2015 he could have had jobs ready for them too!

The analysis found that, between 2010 and 2015, nearly 3,200 kids 17 and younger were killed or injured by firearms. Put another way, a child in Florida was shot, on average, every 17 hours.

From 2010 through 2015, the number of kids killed in gun-related incidents rose nearly 20 percent. Injuries from guns jumped 26 percent from 2014 to 2015 alone.

ā€œThatā€™s a very rapid increase,ā€ said Dr. Garen J. Wintemute, who runs the Violence Prevention Research Program at the University of California Davis School of Medicine.

Firearms killed 475 kids during that six-year span ā€” slightly less than cancer, but more than cardiovascular, infectious or respiratory diseases.

Nearly $2 billion in fines as I recall. But Scott resigned before the court case was finished so itā€™s all good. AND, as a bonus, he got filthy rich by scamming.

Do you mean the largest Medicare fraud in history where Scottā€™s company paid a record $1.7 billion in criminal and civil fines for Medicare fraud? After that, I thought heā€™d be unemployable. Sadly the voters of Florida thought otherwise.

Thank God investigative journalism is making a comeback - you donā€™t really have to dig very hard on most of these guys to hit some foul-smelling toxic waste being passed off as economic growth.

I especially hate Scott because he pulled the trick of making billions in fraud off of American taxpayers and now decries Medicare waste as a reason to ratchet down benefits. He is the guy who steals your watch then helps you look for it.

Scottā€™s recent announcement of his support for several gun control measures was a shift in course. Until now, Scott has lined up staunchly behind the NRA, which gives him an A+ rating. He has championed the stateā€™s ā€œstand your groundā€ law, hobbled efforts to improve background checks, and reduced the cost of a concealed carry license. Scott also signed a law preventing doctors from asking their patients if they had access to a weapon.

But look Mommy, heā€™s going to raise the age to purchase assault rifles to 21! I knew in his heart of hearts he supported gun control. Now we can go back to nothing being wrong.

Traditionally gun manufacturers have been centered in the northeast. After Sandy Hook many northeastern states passed restrictive laws. A number of manufacturers moved south to Florida and west to Arizona, Texas etc.

As to the Russian firm opening a US plant I am surprised that the Russian firm is being allowed to open a US plant given all the sanctions in place against Russia. Russia manufactures some solid shotguns but they havenā€™t been allowed in since Obama imposed sanctions over Crimea.

If you want to talk about military firearms that are exclusively for killing people, you have to start with the AK . Hopelessly inaccurate and short ranged it has absolutely no hunting function at all. Hell you canā€™t even use it in 3 gun competition. If you want a rifle that can be dropped in the mud, picked up a year later and used by a 7 year old insurgent, the AK is the gun for you.

With the proper upper receiver, barrel and sight, an AR can be used by a deer hunter or in competition shooting. What most people donā€™t realize is the AR platform is endlessly configurable. One of its selling points is the userā€™s ability to easily modify just about every aspect of the firearm from stock to trigger to barrel length to sights. Hell it is possible to easily change caliber.

I hope Bill Nelson can really exploit this - Rick Scott is running against Nelson for the Senate seat, and it promises to be a close race.
