Discussion: Rick Perry: Grand Jury Indictment Is A 'Farce'

"This indictment amounts to nothing more than abuse of power. And I cannot and I will not allow that to happen

Hey Rick, when you got your degree being a husbander of animals, did you have an elective called Psychology 1A? If so, the telling response when lying, or being caught red handed are anger, and brusque calling out of the accuser.

The trouble with Perry is he really doesn’t understand that the smell of manure wafting from Johnston and Murphy loafers, is the same stench from a pair of Tony Llama’s.

So his wife tells him to leave his footwear outside the door, because he otherwise doesn’t understand that shit is not the same as shinola.

I wonder if he will do the “Christie” solution. Fire those around him, play shocked that they would put him in this position and then run for president.
Got to admit though, he is pretty funny at stand up comedy when others write the script. lol

The bigger question - when does he get booked, finger printed and mugshot taken?

Watching the press conference was a great study in how to look guilty. He not only accused the Grand Jury of wrongdoing, he slammed the ‘citizens of Travis County’ for allowing the District Attorney to continue in office.

The Travis County Commissioners Court found the money to continue funding of the Public Integrity Unit and the DA spent time in jail and apologized for the DUI and her behaviour, plus agreed to not run for re-election.

That was important because Perry would have been able to appoint her successor and that would have short-circuited the ongoing investigation into the Cancer Research fund (CPRIT) that has already brought one indictment. The cancer fund has all the appearances of directing State funds to the companies of Perry contributors, so this goes much, much deeper. See the latest AD from Wendy Davis about Perry’s anointed successor Greg Abbott.

Perry’s anger today and ending on a statement about protecting the border with limited reporter’s questions did very little to help him. He wants a speedy trial and expressed a desire to retaliate against those who have accused him. It appeared staff was ready to hustle him off as soon as they could.

Great theater for a 100 - plus degree August day “Deep in the Heart.”

(Stay tuned - I’m sure there is more to come)
“This farce of a prosecution will be revealed for what it is,” the governor said, “and those responsible will be held accountable.”
You’re talking about all the illicit investigations, frivolous law suits, and assorted impeachment rantings towards Obama, right?

If only that were true.

This indictment amounts to nothing more than abuse of power.

Wow, they can use the same logic they use on racists - if you accuse me of it, it means you’re guilty of it.

Farce or not, he still has to go to jail, get booked, fingerprinted, and photographed.

Heh.
Reading through hte comments leads me to believe that all Texans have an extremely short memory.

Many commented that someone (anyone?) that gets arrested & convicted for drunkenness - on their own time - shouldn’t he eligible to hold office, any office. ever

Yet those very same folks gave us the convicted drunkard Bush Junior. Also [almost] from Texas.

The Perry supporters are sitting at home, posting comments in his defense. The Perry detractors are out at happy hour.

“…I will not allow that…”

Let us decide that.

Here’s the thing. Perry acted for his personal interest and business. His plan was to get in position to take over the office by use of his executive power and connection to cronies. His mistake was making his veto conditional, targeting one individual who happened to stand in the way of his personal gain.

I’d say 99 years is a good start.

More likely: “The charges against me are a fierce, a abuse a power, and… and… I forget. Oops! Now, let me put on these sassy ‘smart lieberryian’ glasses.”

Apparently, the Grand Jury found enough evidence for abuse on your part to indict you Dick. We told you those eyeglasses don’t make you smarter. Why don’t you ask Sarah Palin, the grafter.

So Gov you are going to hold the public integrity office to account. Good Luck. I hope you can remember who it is you are holding accountable. Remember this is a non partisan office that asked for a special prosecutor to assure non partisanship. There may be farce in TX and you should see it when you look in the mirror

This is the same attitude Tom Delay had when he got his ass indicted.

It’s also the same attitude that Delay had when he got his ass convicted for money laundering.

But then he got the conviction overtuned on a technicality; the same kind of technicality that he abhorred when he was running for office.

Betcha Gov. Smart Glasses™ does the same thing.

We know Ricky isn’t going to do any hard time, but seeing him indicted is great fun. It’s also great to know that with all of the “impeach Obama” refrains, and the house moving to sue the President, that Perry has just pissed in their cheerios.
Great entertainment for late summer.

That aroma doesn’t come from the footwear. It comes from under his hat.

It was Rosemary Lehmberg who went after The Exterminator, that’s why Ricky’s pissed at her and now scared shitless. From LGBT newspaper in Dallas:
