Discussion for article #244662

An awful film. LD must be desperate for any award.

*shrug *, OK?

Chris Rock hosting the second year of OscarsSoWhite?
Chris-tmas is coming early.

OMG thanks TPM!

It’s still one of my favorite winners. Henry and Jane Fonda working out their father-daughter issues on screen. It was excellent.

Only white actors but Chris Rock hosting? You want a cookie for that?

The actor nominees overall aren’t that exciting … actresses better. And, Samuel Jackson would have been a pretty easy nod or the lead in Creed (they nominated Stallone instead).

Just another reason why “Hollywood” is seen as being in another universe.

Yesterday, on The Nightly Show, Robin Thede previewed the upcoming Black Oscar Snubs:

Least imaginative set of nominations I’ve seen in years. I’m particularly sad that Lily Tomlin was left out.

This seems dangerously close to Chris Rock being the black servant to a bunch of white folks celebrating themselves. Of course, it’s just the acting categories, but those are the ones people talk about.

Even directors like Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro Inarritu are not hiring people of color for leading or supporting roles.

Pretentious and serious? Like Lord of the Rings? Titanic? Forrest Gump? Braveheart? Rocky? The Sound of Music?

Survey says…

No. Fucks. Given.

It seems like the Oscars and Golden Globes exist in an alternate universe.

I loved Crash. I absolutely hated Titanic, though. I’ve just now gotten to the point that DiCaprio is tolerable.

not surprising about the whiteout.

a nom for sly, while jordan and coogler are snubbed. they looked at straight outta compton and found a way to nom the white screenplay writer while ignoring jason mitchell.

nice trolling
