Is it okay for me to note that these ads are terrible enough to seem satirical?
In all seriousness, “hit like to help Jesus win” notwithstanding, why the anti-Trump ads?
That tells you something about the deplorables who shared them.
It’s all about destabilizing the American society. Whipping up anti-government sentiment, and keeping things off balance is the ultimate goal.
I’d like to hear what some linguists have to say about these. There seems to me to be very distinct Russian-to-English grammar idiosyncrasies, such as lack of the use of articles like “a” and “the” in places where they’d usually go, that makes these things easy to spot.
In all seriousness, the Jesus, as depicted in that ad, looks mighty white.
I think it is a mistake to frame this as a purely Pro-Trump/Anti-Hillary fight.
Putin was probably against Hillary, yes, but when Donald won, we had a new situation.
Russia will gain by creating general distrust in the institutions of the USA, so anything goes…
Maybe you should read some of the comments posted by various RWNJs ? Grammar is an unnecessary luxury …
Folks, it’s not the ads. It’s the bots and Russian social media accounts that routinely commented, retweeted, shared, etc. They would friend people, maybe someone who supported Sanders in the primary, post a bunch of nasty anti-Clinton/pro-Sanders memes, get a bunch of likes and comments from their comrades, and that got people’s attention.
You can tell just by looking…
Clearly, she colluded with the Russians to defeat herself.
I don’t know if you have a FB account, but it’s utterly astounding to me how many Americans can barely write in English. I don’t think it would stick out at all, particularly following a post that states something like, “Gd marnin frenz have a blassed day!”
I actually factually saw the hilarious Jeebus-Satan one. Still fake internet friends with some high school folks who (at the time) seemed charming enough but none too bright.
You just shook your head and scrolled on by, I mean it’s nothing new that America has a lot of people who are dumb and also highly religious.
…Right?
My view is the Russians have declared cyberwar on the US and they won the first big battle and maybe the entire war.
Right? And the grammar in the long-winded ones. Such beautiful, incredible, very, very, very amazing writing would speak only to readers of a certain kind (perhaps a right-leaning kind?).
The Anti-Trump ads were put out after the election to further divide Americans and weaken the country, keeping everyone distracted from what Putin is doing. Remember the goal here is what best serves Putin and his regime of Russian mafia oligarchs.
Keeping us all ANGRY and STUPID.
Oh, I forgot, that’s Hannity’s job.
Oh, now I am so confused.
Russian, like many slavic languages, does not have a definite article (the) or indefinite article (a) (though for the latter they do use “one” but only to emphasize it, not in normal usage like in English). And it’s very difficult for non-native speakers whose first language is Russian (or most other Slavic languages) to figure out the intricacies of when and when not to use “the” or “a”.
I observe the Faux News KKKomment boards regularly. Been kicked off too many times for linking dis-proof of their propaganda to bother with another sockpuppet though LOL (after all, links aren’t allowed…wonder why).
Anyhoo, Methbilly Nation exhibits all sorts of education levels and problems…maybe even aphasias…with the language they demand is our national language, but they are not nearly as consistent as the Russians. It’s everything from all-lower-case run on sentence nonsense to casting spells with Jesus-gibberish. Moreover, there are no doubt countless Russian trolls mixed in among the Faux News KKKomment board KKKommunity, so that sort of complicates it as well.
The thing that’s the most disturbing is that Trump seems to be as gullible and as influenced by this as anyone that voted for him.
