Discussion: Retiring Rep. Issa Calls It Early: There Will Be A Dem Representing My District

Thinking this is just some red meat, ok perhaps some hamburger, for the right in other districts to get to the polls?

RE: The correction to the implication that Levin would receive 96% of the vote (rather than having a 96% probability of winning the seat).

In a sane world, the vote would not be as close as 24:1 in favor of Levin.

Nah, I think it’s just an acceptance of reality. Plus, he’s not on the ballot so he can say he didn’t lose, he retired.

Don’t worry Darrell, you can always go back to arson and insurance fraud to make a dishonest living.

Poor Darrell, he’ll just have to wait for Duncan Hunter’s conviction to take his carpet bag over to CA-50. He must be so burned that Hunter wouldn’t withdraw. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving creep.

Good riddance, car thief!

On the one hand it could be a curve ball thrown at Democrats to suggest that the Dems already have the race in the bag, so you don’t have to bother voting. On the other hand, I live in the 49th and the demographics of the district have changed tremendously, so it could just be an acceptance of reality. There are far more Levin signs than there are Harkey if that’s any indicator.

And there was much rejoicing. Issa is as crooked as they come.

I just spent almost two hours in NYC waiting to vote, came back soaked (but with good stuff from the Greenmarket) and I was already pretty happy from seeing so many voters out in my hood. This is a delightful treat to read after all that! Looking forward to more good news in the next several hours.

This district is partly in my county.

I have switched to my tutu avitar in anticipation of celebrating victory in the toss up districts here.

I’m in CA-18, where there’s not much suspense, but I was there at the polls when the doors opened at 07:00 this morning. There was a line at the door, a dozen-plus folks waiting in what Californians think is chilly weather (heh). Seemed unusual for a midterm; usually I can breeze right in.

My usual polling location usually serves three different voting precincts, and as it turned out, I was the first one to run my (auditable paper) ballot through the machine and watch the counter go from 0000 to 0001…

i’m afraid to give locations because of the perils of the interweb - i will tell you we cut down a lot of trees in these parts, and grow a lot of recreational product

I see how it is. If I say NYC I’m still sort of anonymous, I guess, because there are way too many of us here, I’m one of over 8 million.

Of course there will be a Democrat in the district. That’s why the chicken shit is “retiring” or as mentioned by someone else, waiting for Duncan the Younger and Dumber Hunter to get re-elected in the 50th and then tossed in jail. Issa will come in and swoop up the district and I will be stuck with him for fucking ever. Come on people, Vote for Ammar!!! I’ve been canvassing and there is real enthusiasm in civilization for a new face. It’s the folks in the sticks who may doom us to the fate worse than death I’ve predicted above.

And just think, Mr Issa. It’s largely your own fault.
