Trump views Judges the same way he views everything and everyone else; As tools to be exploited and abused, then disrespected and discarded when they no longer please him.
Stevens said he thinks the President doesnât fully understand the role of the judiciary in the U.S. To Trump, everything is political, Stevens said.
This gives Trump far too much credit.
Trump subverts the judiciary for three reasons. In order:
- To protect himself.
He is a criminal who has managed to evade justice by intimidating witnesses and buying the silence of his victims, but seizing the presidency has exposed him to so much more scrutiny that he knows those tricks wonât cut it anymore. - The extremist libertarian wing of the GOP wants the same thing Trump wants: categorical legal immunity for the wealthy.
This is what McConnell is up to. Itâs what Koch built the Federalist Society for. Itâs one of the big positives that attract those oligarch dollars. - Undermining liberal society is the reason rural culture-warriors voted for Trump.
Overturning half a century of liberal precedent is the greatest political red meat for his base, who believe the massive cultural and racial changes they abhor were caused by judges who were not religious fundamentalists.
If we injected everything Stevens knows into Trumpâs brain, it would not change his behavior one iota. Trump doesnât need to have a nuanced appreciation of the delicate machinery of justice to recognize that the judiciary is the component of the criminal justice system â i.e. the one thing that poses a real threat to Trump â that is best-protected from tinkering by ordinary criminals like he has been for most of his life. Trump is the fox who got into the henhouse.
Yeah really, itâs not like he understands anything, truthfully.
At the time he said he didnât think Kavanaugh would make a good judge, but has since come around to the justice.
âHeâs a really good judge,â Stevens said.
Spoken like someone who finally made the A-list for the PBR keggers, along with Timmy and Squi.
Thatâs where everybody misses the point is not that Trump fails to understand the role of the Judiciary. Trump doesnât even care what role it has. For him there are only two kind of people, lackeys that help him achieve his ambitions and enemies out there to block them. And that goes for the Judiciary, Congress, DOJ, military, Press, everyone.
It is entirely possible Donnie doesnât understand, but the Turtle absolutely does. It is his lifeâs work and today it is a race to save our democracy before his acolytes take total control and turn us into a right wing theocracy.
Heâs not praising the moron, is he.
Thank you for this. Iâm so sick of hearing how Trump doesnât âunderstandâ things. He understands exactly what he is destroying. He relishes the fact, and expects adoration for his exploits. Just watch one of his rallies (or, for your sanity, donât). Itâs all on display there, in all its glittery arrogance.
I will never understand why he is still given a pass for his open dictatorial longings.
Nope!
this is all pretty weak - âdoesnât understand the judiciaryâ? Well neither do I really, but Iâm not a lying, cheating, tax dodging racist who expects never to be held accountable for my actions. Glad to hear heâs come round to liking Kavanaugh, now I know how much I can value his opinion.
Trump doesnât understand _______.
Thereâs not a whole lot that wouldnât correctly complete that sentence.
Does Trump really understand anything?
He doesnât give a crap, thatâs the problem. Whether he understands or not is irrelevant. He doesnât care because he thinks he can do whatever he wants for his own aggrandizement and edification, and to shut people up that bug him to do âthingsâ they want him to do, people like Miller and the Chief of Staff.
Democrats need to keep that in mind and base their actions on that bit of info, Iâd say.
âŚThinks Trump Doesât Understand Role of Judiciary
No shit, Sherlock!
Well in that case, he looks great! ![]()
Judicial âthin blue lineâ maybe?
