Nothing would make Trump happier than having a bill combining Tax Reform and Obamacare sitting on his desk as a cudgel to extort Congress into even greater cravenness than theyâre showing currently.
In his mind, apparently such a thing is possible.
I know Cotton canât open his mouth without lying, but just a reminder that if you canât afford a policy the mandate doesnât actually kick in with a penaltyâŚ
JFC can we stop calling this travesty âtax reformâ. We, and everyone else not in the pay of the Koch brothers, must call it what it is: a giant give-away to richest.
For those who havenât figured this out yet, Republicans will NEVER stop trying to repeal the ACA. Never.
NeverHillary

Cotton. What a waste of seat time at a couple of prestigious universities. I know a guy whoâs got a similarly good education, from famous schools, all that. And the SOB is a Holocaust denier. Itâs not necessarily an intellectual problem that causes this stuff, or a lack of education. Itâs more to do with emotions and worldview than any question of inherent ability or training. But JFC that Cottonâs just a loon.
Cottonâs office did not respond to TPMâs inquiry as to his source for that budget-saving estimate, but it appears to come from a 2011 report by the Congressional Budget Office that found the government would only save money because repealing the mandate would âsubstantially reduce the number of people with health insurance coverage.â
âMr. President, Iâm not saying we wouldnât get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed uninsured, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks.â
BecauseâŚwhy the fuck not.
The IRS already does not fine you if you cannot afford insurance. Affordability is defined in the ACA.
Cotton thinks this can pass.
Cotton also thinks that scraggy mess on his face is a beard.
This is actually good news. By combining two separate pieces of toxic legislation, this doubles the chances that it will not pass.
God almighty that thingâit looks more like one of those bee beards people do than an actual human beard. Stomach-turning.
Yes. Might be total grandstanding on his part. Wouldnât be the first time.
Yeah you go boysâŚyou have already screwed the American people with your proposed âtax billâ and now you want to finish the job with taking away their HEALTH care? What a bunch of half assed cretins you are.
Which is why heâs inserting another provision in the tax bill that makes it illegal for anyone making less than $1 million/yr to readâŚ
Thatâs what cracks me up. This thing was already going to fail, but they keep loading it up with more junk thatâll only guarantee its failure.
Damn it âŚ
I canât seem to figure out how to fast forward through these commercials â
make their insurance affordable and tailored towards their personal needs
Two incompatible concepts in health insurance.
Mocking Tom âTallâ Cotton is too easy. He doesnât talk to the press because the media already and forever loves his conservative cred. He got all Repubs to sign that ridiculous anti-Iran statement and attend an anti-U.S. diatribeâin Congress!!-- by Bibi. Tom Cotton has been surfing that anti-establishment wave ever since. The New Maverick! No need for him to actually DO anything legislatively when heâs being written up frequently as an attractive 2020 presidential candidate!
