I think that ship has sailed.

I think that ship has sailed.
That’s the question. Nunes as a member of the House is probably untouchable in the state he’s from, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Really think people need to tone down the fear talk. Sure, this might be the beginning of the end, but we’re talking about the gang who can’t shoot straight. Even this maneuver is hamfisted and dumb. These people are dangerous in the way that cornered animals are dangerous. But if they knew how to use real power, none of this would be necessary and we wouldn’t be hearing about it.
The intel community isn’t going to go along with this, particularly not the FBI. This is just another step down the rabbithole that exposes their own wrongdoing. I’m not going to promise that this ends well since anything’s possible, but I don’t find any reason to worry yet. In fact, I’ve been looking forward to seeing what this dumb memo says and think it will be hilarious to see what they’re peeing themselves over. I’d bet money it references the FBI’s “Secret Society,” unless they already edited that out.
I do so hope you are being prophetic!!! The Schiff press conference scared the crap outta me. We have GOT to have a blue tide I the falll. Or else I might be taking the tide pod challenge
Not necessarily. But if they were thinking about violations of federal election laws, then that would be federal.
Absolutely agree.
Will there be elections in November? If they’re willing to corrupt the process to destroy the FBI, why don’t they just cancel elections they know they’re going to lose?
November is a long way away. More than enough time for the Reichstag to burn down for ISIS to strike inside the US.
Not reassuring. Boneheaded incompetence is not unknown among autocrats. He’s got his stooges running the executive branch and the pretty much complete support of the party that runs Congress. You don’t have to shoot all that straight if nobody shoots back.
White House legislative aide Marc Short on Sunday said that Trump is “inclined” to release the memo, but does not know what it contains.
This is hard to believe.
Another step in the destruction of democracy, government and rule of law in the U.S. The Republican Congress has shown they will do nothing to stop Trump and will do everything to keep power, including voter suppression, vote count tampering, and allowing all the assistance and interference Russia cares to give them, and being complicit in obstruction of justice.
Oh! I fully expect this to be a spectacular “own goal” for the Republicans…
It’s just that they have scored so many own goals and have blundered along, ignoring their fuck ups and the will of the people that at this point, it looks like they just don’t give a shit and just want to give a pretense of subtlety as they continue to march on to their fascist dreams.
This is the Reichstag Fire. This vote is it.
Look no further than Honduras if you want bonehanded incompetence from an autocrat. Most blatantly stolen election in recent memory, but the thief was duly inaugurated last week.
Incompetents can do an awful lot when they hold power. Toadies follow orders, no matter the competence of the fool giving them.
Maybe he’s “heard good things” about it, but no one has read it to him yet?
This x a gizzilion.
And if they succeed in shutting down the Mueller probe what happens to all the evidence collected?
Idi Amin Dada. Huge buffoon. Cold comfort to his half-million victims.
“Well, we can’t consider impeachment of the president when the DOJ and FBI are under investigation.”
How long before we hear a Republican or one of the reichtwing media say this? Place your bets.
ETA: “… or to expect the president to give an interview to the Mueller team.”
Except I have a growing suspicion that this mess–the memo, the disinformation campaign, this vote, everything Nunes has done for weeks, is being fed to him by his handler.
I wonder where his dead drops happen.
Fresno County is derp central.
