This may be more than distraction. Trump and the GOP may be getting ready to declare the investigation impossibly tainted by partisanship and fire everyone. There’s no guarantee Congress could or would respond.

If the country weren’t full of trump-hating Democrats it will be now. We’ll be saying to goodbye to many of those leading this attempt at a coup, and if the provocateurs don’t know that, they’re not thinking far enough ahead. A Democratic House will impeach his orange ass in a NY minute. Leader Pelosi has been very diplomatic so far about the prospect of impeachment in a new Congress, but this will be a new day.
