Discussion: Republican Ralph Norman Wins Special Election For South Carolina House Seat

Archie Parnell came closer than Ossoff with no visibility and no money. Damn.

He won?

Well knock me over with a feather, truss me up, and baste me with bible verses.

And send Lindsay another case of straws.

This election reinforces something I’ve been saying for a long time: The amount spent on an election has little impact on the results of that election. There’s never been any real evidence that spending lots of money on a campaign helps a candidate win.

We never stop hearing about how important money is in elections because the recipients of most of that money are the same networks that are telling you can’t win without money. They say it because it provides them with a shit-ton of revenue every two years, not because it’s true.

There was a lot of door to door canvassing and lots of phone calls made for Archie Parnell. I was surprised at how close this was _ but people still remember John Spratt the Democrat who represented this district for many years winning from 1982 - 2008. A lot of people who know Ralph Norman say he will be as bad or worse than Mulvaney - he was a terrible state legislator. He barely won the repub primary.

“And I know he is 100 percent with the veterans on their issues.”

Until he isn’t and votes in lock step to privatize the VA. Why? To give millionaires like him even MORE tax cuts. When the ACA goes down to defeat, the Rethugs will continue to shred the safety net.

and we note with interest all the sincere support from the democratic leaders and the rally s they held for him /s

Just a little effort might have made a difference
