Can someone please tell these people that “country over party” doesn’t mean they get to pick the country?

The so-called majority party has the motive, means, and opportunity to rig the judicial and law-enforcement institutions of this government in its favor and is enthusiastically doing so. No inquiry of this type could possibly be done as anything else. Not by them. And we have to save ourselves, folks. Robert Mueller can’t do it alone. One vote flipped a legislature yesterday. Lots of work to do.

ETA just called my critter. I knew it was futile and I said so, but I let them know I consider this tax bill a theft from working people by the oligarchy and an unconscionable redistribution upward of taxpayer money. Pretty sure I wasn’t the only call they got. He’s on notice that there will be consequences for this. It’s literally the least I can do but it’s something.

I saw a brief glimmer of hope when I read that Goodlatte was willing to subpoena for documents, testimony, etc. but ONLY as it pertains to a Clinton investigation!!! And I swear Gowdy has a sick fixation on Hillary. Wasn’t he head of that Benghazi fiasco, e-mails, etc…?

She is a private citizen now, lost the election and was cleared of any wrong doing! The horse is dead, you can stop beating it, already.

Do they REALLY want to get into the way that the Clinton investigation was paraded in the press, while that of the nefarious dealings of the Trump campaign where hidden.

What’s the phrase I’m groping for here? Oh, yes, Be careful what you wish for.

I have to wonder where they think this will all end up at? Not the Hillary diversions, but allowing everything to come to a complete train wreck? Do they think they will get to go home, retire in peace and prosperity? The more damage, the more chaos and in the end, no one will be safe from the ramifications.

Clearly, they’ve picked Honduras.

It’s a naked use of government power against a political rival. It doesn’t matter that she was defeated a year ago. It “sends a message,” as they say. And the message is we live in an authoritarian state now.

GOP is making a big mistake putting the FBI under a microscope like this. McCabe had become aware of the True Pundit effort to engineer Comey’s reopening of the email investigation, and it’s quite possible that McCabe dropped some hints or some actual knowledge about how members of that House committee or other committees (looking at you Chaffetz and Gowdy) received info from True Pundit or cooperated with them to coordinate the re-starting of the email investigation.

True Pundit was/is made up of former FBI agents who were/are harshly anti-HRC and were well connected within the bureau. They were getting credible leaks from the bureau (which McCabe had noticed). These mysterious web sources then seemed to be an open source for friends of Rudy at the FBI, NYPD and eventually members of the GOP House to push various means, either independently or loosely in concert, to bring up the matter of Weiner’s computer and somehow get that into the FBI’s investigatory scope for the Clinton investigation.

Next, they’ll be complaining that the FBI’s real headquarters is in Benghazi …

They ‘demand’??? SOMEONE needs to tell Congress EXACTLY who they work for…and then to go sht in their hats. Do ANY of these nimrods ‘know’ they couldn’t get a job in the private sector if their lives depended on it?

I think - hope, at least - that this could backfire, and Republicans could ask some questions to which the answers will reveal some quite damaging information they’d rather not have known at this point. I don’t think a lot of those in the FBI have many more fucks to give and they’re ready to tell what they know.

Remember the superiority we felt decades ago when we believed we were better than the Soviet Union with their “one party rule”?

“Among other things, the Committees are investigating the circumstances surrounding the FBI’s decision to publicly announce the investigation into former Secretary Clinton’s handling of classified information, but not to publicly announce the investigation into campaign associates of then-candidate Donald Trump; the FBI’s decision to notify Congress by letter of the status of the investigation both in October and November of 2016; the FBI’s decision to appropriate from DOJ the decision-making authority with respect to charging or not charging former Secretary Clinton; and the FBI’s timeline with respect to charging decisions.”

To state the obvious, they will be investigating the decisions made by the FBI that were made with good intentions or, to the extent that they were not, favored Trump over Clinton–the idea being to somehow spin this to the discredit of the FBI. It’s not a joke. Never forget (and it has been forgotten) that Comey was fired ostensibly because (1) he wrongly took over the investigation into Clinton from the Democratic AG; (2) he failed in his duty by having a press conference in which he lambasted Clinton for mishandling her emails.

Let this be a lesson to Democrats everywhere, including the apparently idiotic Ralph Northam: when you are dealing with the GOP, you are dealing with a relentless, conscienceless enemy that will take any gesture of goodwill or fairness or compromise that you may make and turn it against you. Any bipartisan gesture by you will be used to discredit you. If a member of the GOP were to be drowning in the river and you dived in, risking your life, to save that person, he or she would turn around scream to the rooftops about your attempted murder. This is the reality we live in. Act accordingly, and speak accordingly.

Relax. Goodlatte believes in congressional oversight. He just thinks that the Constitution was referring to oversight of the loser of the presidential election. I’m sure this misunderstanding can be cleared up.
