Discussion: Reps: Our GOP Colleagues Carry Guns In Oklahoma Capitol Despite Ban

“My thought is: Why weren’t they screened?” said Capitol visitor Willis Washington, whose wheelchair was wanded by a security guard after it set off the metal detector. “I think we should all have to play by the same rules.”

Willis will be taking his comedy act to Cracker's Comedy Club in Lincoln, Nebraska the weekend of June 3-4-5.

Ah, the insidious beauty of the gun-nut position:

By putting guns everywhere, they are making the only viable defense (even for a normal argument) ensuring that you yourself are also armed, lest you become a stand-your-ground statistic.

The gun is the new flag pin, I guess.

Yup. They need it to defend themselves from those women-dressed-as-men who are attempting to molest them in the toilets.

If someone saw a lawmaker’s weapon, could they call 911 with an active shooter report?

Depends. Is that a stand-your-ground State? If yes, the concerned citizen could confront the lawmaker, and, if they felt threatened by the response, shoot them. All fully legal.

Ain’t America Great?

Why bother? If a Capitol visitor was truly worried a lawmaker constituted a threat to public safety they should merely tug on the sleeve of a nearby security guard and exclaim “I just saw that man walk out of the women’s restroom!!! Ahhhh!” Presto! Tazed, tackled, hogtied and tossed in the paddy wagon for a nickel ride to the dungeon would follow. Problem solved.

Ralph Shortey, a Republican senator, who said weapons screening violates a constitutional prohibition against interfering with lawmakers during a legislative session.

Jeebus, these guys may as well just get rid of the judicial branch. Any semi-educated citizen is perfectly capable of determining the plain meaning of the words in the OK constitution.

And if there is a disagreement over the interpretation? God blessed us with firearms to settle the matter.

One can only hope that a gunfight breaks out in the capitol, and we will be able to replace some of these morons in the aftermath. Oklahoma, fighting with Texas to become the most backward, ignorant state in the Union. I guess “IOKIYAAR” still holds.

“I won’t name names,”

UN-FUCKING-ACCEPTABLE. Name. The. Fucking. Names.

I’m so fucking sick of the Dems being the Bartleby party. GROW A PAIR!!!

“weapons screening violates a constitutional prohibition against interfering with lawmakers during a legislative session.”

So their firearms are an integral part of their legislative duties and how they carry them out? I think we have our admission now; they’re willing to threaten other legislators to get their way. I see no other interpretation for what he fucking said.

We’ll be reading about one accidentally shooting themselves, loved ones, innocent bystanders, or getting shot by jealous lover or spouse soon.

Well, by his attempt at logic, doors violate the same prohibition (they have to stop to open them) as do cars, crowds of people, and the very architectural design of the building because they have to take extra steps once they enter the front door (which is slowing them down).

Even their St. Scalia admitted in the Heller decision that states DO have the right to regulate the use of fire arms, which would include the relatively minor inconvenience of screening people from carrying guns into places with a long history of assassination attempts.

They are outnumbered (people wise, not pairwise!) so no decent legislation can pass and BS shit does, just like NC’s HB2.

Since they are doing such a bad job in office, they need to carry…it’s a fact. They rightly feel threatened whenever they leave from home. Hell, they are scared there, too!

“Republican Gov. Mary Fallin, reliably conservative on all issues, said she worries about having handguns in a place where emotions sometimes run high among advocates and politicians.” But emotions never run high at bars? on college campuses? other places where folks can be freely armed?

why doesn’t someone file a complaint against the security checkers for passing through people who set off their equipment? the local DA should be interested.

One tiny firecracker on the OK House/Senate floor…

Let the Rumpus begin!
